Anthony Reid was guest speaker at the annual Scottish Classics dinner on 4th February.
He gave a very informative and entertaining talk on his life in motorsport which the audience of sixty thoroughly enjoyed.

Anthony also presented awards, photos of some of the winners are attached:

My friends and I always call him the wing commander because he has that air about him although having spoken to him a couple of times nothing could be further from the truth, his early career makes for a good read(no pun intended)! As you say he is a very interesting guy and always receptive as well as being very quick in just about anything from historics to sports and touring cars. He also makes an appearance at the Goodwood cricket ground prior to the Revival but his batting is not as good as his driving technique!

The first two rounds at Knockhill on 16th April have eighteen entries, which is a decent number as several regular competitors are unable to attend.

Three Newcomers are: Barry Eastaugh – MGBV8, Stephen Sadler – Peugeot 205GTi and Fraser Turnbull – Fiesta XR2.
Also a welcome guest appearance from Richard Merrell – Alfa Romeo Guilia – a previous long-time supporter until he moved from Scotland.

Knockhill Ciruit are offering free entry for all serving and veterans of the Armed Forces and NHS workers - for terms and event details:

Knockhill is a bit handier for Richard now he's moved back to Scotland Mind you he was all the way down at Snetterton with CSCC the other weekend!

Andrew Graham drove his immaculate Triumph TR7V8 to victory in both races last Sunday.
He was followed by Alastair Baptie’s rapid Fiat X1/9 and last year’s champion Charlie Cope, VW Golf, on both occasions.

In race one, Alasdair Coates’ Walkinshaw liveried Escort was fourth, with Jimmy Crow in his recently acquired Scimitar Coupe fifth.
Richard Merrell, Alfa Guilia, was sixth; Ewan Anderson, BMW 2002, seventh, half a second ahead of Iain Mitchell, Vauxhall Nova.
Colin Calder, Lotus Elan and Mario Ferrari, Alfa Sprint, completed the top ten. Next were the MGs, Easthaugh’s V8 in front of Longstaffe in the Midget.
Ian Morton has competed in the championship longer than any current driver and he maintained his support, taking his Austin A40 to thirteenth place.
Calum Bruce, Escort RS2000, and the Fiesta XR2s of Duncan O’Neill and Fraser Turnbull completed the results.
Engine difficulties prevented Stephen Sadler from racing.

Crow moved up to fourth in race two, Ferrari, Merrell and Eastaugh finished closely behind.
Anderson, Mitchell and Calder were next after an enthralling battle, similar to their entertaining display in race one.
Longstaffe was just ahead of Morton in eleventh place, O’Neill, Bruce and Turnbull the final drivers to complete the race.
Alasdair Coates was unable to participate due to mechanical woes.

Sponsor Edinburgh Watch Company proprietor, Jonathan Gilbert, presented the driver of the day award to Ewan Anderson.

I've seen some in-car video on Youtube from Richard Merrill of his battle with the Sud Sprint in race 2. He says he's getting his confidence back for Knockhill - especially as he can see the circuit area across the Firth from his house! I think he'll be doing a few more, as well as some CSCC Swinging Sixties and probably some Classic Alfa Challenge.....

I like the variety of the series at Knockhill

Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Twenty four drivers have entered the next two rounds at Knockhill on 4th June, the highest number at the circuit for eleven years.

First time for Richard Cooper, Ginetta G15. Previous champion, John Kinmond, will debut a Mini in place of his Rover SD1.
Charles Colledge makes his first visit to Knockhill, in a Mini Marcos – he was a gust at the past two events the championship had at Cadwell Park.

Tropical conditions, amongst the best ever seen at Knockhill, provided the ideal setting for a fine day of competition.
Winner of both races was Andrew Graham, TR7V8, repeating his double success at the first event in April.
Craig Houston took second each time in his self-prepared Lotus Eclat, which was faster than ever after overhaul at the end of last season.
His success was also rewarded with championship sponsor, Edinburgh Watch Company, driver of the day award.
VW Golf driver Charlie Cope maintained his fine form with two third places.

Championship leader, Alastair Baptie, also continued his excellent run, finishing fourth in race one and sixth in race two in his class A Fiat X1/9.
Fifth in both races was the immaculate Escort RS2000 of Alasdair Coates. Andrew Kinmond, TVR Vixen 2500,
recovered from retiring in the first race to fourth place in race two.
The final member of the top six drivers was Mario Ferrari, Alfasud Sprint, sixth in the first race.

There were three non-starters and several drivers experienced mechanical difficulties.
Hopefully they will be ready to race before the next event at Knockhill on 9th July.

Thirteen Classics have entered the joint Scottish Motor Racing Club and Irish Championship Circuit Racing event at Anglesey on 5th and 6th August.
In addition, Darlington Motor Club’s sports and saloons will be in attendance, bringing the total number of cars close to two hundred.

Of the Classics entries it will be the first time in the championship for Sandy McEwen, MGB, and two guests returning,

Another two victories for Andrew Graham, on the SMRC Classics first visit to Anglesey, 6th August.
A fabulous event at a great circuit, with friendly helpful staff, and a super café.
In race one Alasdair Coates, RS2000, and Alastair Baptie, Fiat X1/9 were second and third respectively.
Positions four to six were taken by Adam Kinmond, Rover Vitesse; Ewan Anderson, BMW2002; Barry Eastaugh, MGBV8.
Charlie Cope claimed seventh in a Golf GTi, followed by Paul Bowers, Fiat 128; Sandy McEwen, MGB roadster;
Pete Richards, Clan Crusader; John Kinmond, Mini;
Ian Morton, Austin A40; and Charles Colledge, Mini Marcos.

On the first lap of race two, a collision between Cope and Coates saw both drivers unhurt but cars suffered considerable damage.
Baptie took second from Adam Kinmond, Anderson fourth and Eastaugh fifth.

Sponsor Edinburgh Watch Company driver of the day, Paul Bowers, had a great battle to finish sixth, one second in front of Sandy McEwen.
Richards, Colledge, Morton and John Kinmond were the remaining finishers.

Next event is at Croft, with HSCC, on 2nd and 3rd September.

Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Alastair Baptie is the 2023 Scottish Classics overall champion. His third title came after a season of winning his class at every event in his Fiat X1/9.

Second and third were taken by Andy Graham and Charlie Cope. Fourth overall, in his first season of racing, was MGBV8 driver Barry Eastaugh.
The top six was completed by Euan Anderson and Paul Bowers.

The final event at Knockhill was subject to torrential rain which led to qualifying being cancelled.
Cars lined-up for the first race in championship order. Graham took victory in his TR7V8 from Baptie.
Adam Kinmond’s Rover Vitess was third, just ahead of the Peugot 205GTi of Steve Sadler, who came from the back of the grid.
Eastaugh was fifth, followed by Andrew Kinmond, making a guest appearance in a TVR Vixen.

Graham also won race two, ahead of Eastaugh, Sadler, Andrew Kinmond and Baptie. Sixth was the immaculate Ginetta G4R of Colin Calder.
The remaining positions were taken by John Kinmond, Mini; Adam Kinmond; Jimmy Crow, Scimitar Coupe; Paul Bowers, Fiat 128 Coupe;
Paul Green, Fiesta XR2; Ian Morton, Austin A40 and Richard Cooper, Ginetta G15.

Sponsor Edinburgh Watch Company proprietor, Jonathan Gilbert, presented the driver of the day award to Steve Sadler.
