Nick Kirby should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Britcar 500

Hi All,
Just got this from Dave Loftus BMMC SW chairman, thought I'd share. Nigel Price asked for the word to be put out.......

"The Britcar 500, the Britcar championship’s flagship 6 hour race at Silverstone on October 2nd-4th, will have all of the pzazz and sense of occasion normally associated with the 24 hour event, with the usual funfairs, air displays, and entertainment, plus, in these trying times for our armed forces, a special representation from the Help for Heroes organisation. Unfortunately we are a bit short of Marshals for the event.

Action begins on Friday with a full day of qualifying for the support races (including Porsche Club, Toyo Tyres Production, Sports 2000, FPA, and Mazda MX5), culminating in the unique two-hour Britcar night qualifying after dark.

There is a full programme of racing on Saturday, finishing with the top-billing Britcar 6-hour race, with 52 cars, including TV star Vicki Butler-Henderson in a Renault Clio, taking the starting flag, waved this year by 2008 hero Andy Neate, at 4pm.

The festival continues on Sunday, with Caterham’s, Alfa Romeo’s, Mighty Minis, Mazda’s, Sports 2000, and Dunlop MN Saloons.

As usual, the hard-working marshals will be rewarded for their efforts with a Britcar package including T-Shirt, Pens, stickers, badges, and meal/drink vouchers. This event has become a mecca for marshals countrywide, the 6-hour race will be no less an event as the previous – and future – 24 hour festivals, and a chance to renew friendships made over previous years.

Support this event, be part of a unique motorsport experience, and ensure the continuation of the Britcar 24 hours in the coming years. If you are able to help us on this event to cover the GP circuit for the Friday to Sunday, or even if you are just able to help on one day or a part of a day please can you contact Penny Norris at Silverstone: Penny.Norris@silverstone.co.uk

Thanks and we all look forward to seeing you at the event and welcoming back old friends and meeting new ones. The timetable for the weekend can be seen here: http://britcar24hr.co.uk/cms/e107_pl...Iss_270709....

Drivers should also remember that a day of marshaling is worth a signature on your license so if you fancy a day on the other side of the barrier you will be more than welcome.

It might not be the same as the 24hrs, but if a 6hr race means getting some better quality sleep on Saturday night then why not give it a go?

Having done all of these meetings, I can honestly say that they really are the best of fun, but even more so if there are enough marshals to make it so.

So, if you've done it before (and that includes the Scottish lot) then please return and, if you've only ever thought about it before, then use this year to give it a go (see first paragraph)! The more is literally the merrier........

And all comments/observations in the above are my own personal views, including the hope that they remember to give us a bit of a late start on Sunday morning (haven't been able to look at the timetable).

See you there,

Shelagh (aka PieLady )

Its a 9:00 start on the Sunday, although each day has almost and hour and a half lunch break. There are 8 races on the Sunday so its going to be action packed

Campsite should be open Thursday, no problem (always has been in my experience, especially for 3-day meets). Enter the circuit via the main gate and hang an immediate left before you cross the bridge - then follow the perimeter road round to the outside of Copse, et voila - one campsite

Shouldn't a problem, but let security know. You'll have to be off by the afternoon on Monday though.

Camping for the 24 Hour races has been on the inside of the circuit. Has it changed for the 6 Hour race this year ?

I think White Rabbit Racing are providing camping for spectators, as they did last year, and assume it would be at Copse. To quote from their web site "To allow you to experience the full bore race weekend atmosphere, the AREA-24 Race Camp will be available from midday on Friday 2nd October to 6.30pm on Sunday 4th October. AREA-24 will be situated behind the start/finish grandstand just on the outside of the circuit. About 30secs from trackside!"
