johntt should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Nashville not returning in 2009.

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...-return-in-09/

...and so it begins, the return to a proper schedule. Talk is of it being replaced by Toronto.

I just hope they don't end up with too many street races - to me that's the major reason why ChampCar ulimtately lost out.

But Nashville is the closest to me that IndyCars get! Barber or Road Atlanta had better be in the cards for 2010.

Its very important that Indycar splits the tracks 7:7:7 between road, street and oval. When a lot of the oval's contracts expire at the end of 2009 they'll be able to get a proper schedule together for 2010. 2009 will be somthing of a transition year as far as the schedule is concerned.

Barber is more of a bike track, and there are more deserving road courses out there. IMO the road courses that Indycar should go to should be Road America, Mid-Ohio, Montreal (failing that Mont-Tremblent), Mexico City, Portland, Watkins Glen and Laguna Seca.

Road Atlanta is mainly sportscar territory as is Sebring and Mosport. I can't see Dr. Panoz wanting his two biggest races upstaged by Indycar sharing the bill at either.

Leighton Irwin should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

As long as Toronto holds a race and Michael Andretti currently has the rights to Toronto you can forget Mosport. After all it is only a few miles from what is referred to as the GTA and 50 from Toronto proper.
No way will IRL run 2 races in such proximity to each other.

I didn't suggest Mosport, I discounted it.

What I did say/am saying is that IMO Indycar should run at Toronto and Montreal.

If Montreal is unavailable then Tremblent should be used instead, and that if Toronto doesn't come together then they should stick with Edmonton.

Leighton, if Cleveland returns, the IRL WILL be running two races in such proximity to one another.

Lets hope Cleveland does return, one of the best tracks they had.

When you look at it, AOWR's homeland is mainly in the Notheast, you have Indy, Milwaukee, Road America, Michigan, Mid-Ohio in states next to each other. New Hampshire, Watkins Glen and Pocono aren't that far away either.

Most forms of american motorsports formed in different areas, Stock Car racing originates from the South East (North Carolina, Charlotte, Daytona, Talladega) and dirt track racing from the West (I think ??)

That's actually closer to the mid-west. The northeast is regarded as the New York-Boston area.
