This should work. Maybe Ayse could delete the busted links.

Good man.

I'm going to wait until the work is all finished before drawing too many conclusions. It's quite hard right now when the place is a building site.

jc_nl should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Can the TenTenths LM section give some info on the building work of the Porsche centre at/near the MB campsite?

As a regular MB camper I am a bit curious as to how things are developing over there.

Not sure if this has been posted yet. Supposedly a picture of the new Porsche Centre going in.

Wonder where the wheel will go? Also hoping it doesn't restrict the viewing from our grandstand.

Credit to @matlemans on Twitter for the pic btw

Although the building ground is huge and filling up all the way to the circuit, the steel skeleton of the building is much smaller, and really doesn't seem to interrupt either the wheel, the GS view or most important the Maison Blanche camping spots.
However, more buildings could be erected in the future...

Quote from an email somebody over at Pistonheads received from the ACO today:

"We will lose a certain number of places in Maison Blanche due to the future Porsche building but we don’t know yet exactly."

Like mr. CB over at PH said, sounds very encouraging. Not.

It's amazing how much that area has been developed in the past 20 years or so.

There used to be a house right by the Ford Chicane which was demolished, presumably after the ACO bought it. Then for quite a few years that whole area was just sort of marshy land with a few trees.

On that side now you have all those semi-permanent corporate hospitality places and the karting circuit. And now on the other side of the circuit there'll be the Porsche centre.

It's funny, with all the changes we've seen at the circuit which have been described as "sacrilege" and "sanitising", the development of the Ford Chicane/Masion Blanche area very rarely gets a mention, despite it arguably seeing the most developed in recent years.

It's quite clever from the ACO - it's an area which doesn't get a lot of love anyway, and most now surely be one of its greatest revenue generators.

Thanks.

Didn't realize they were asphaltizing the small bit between Indy and Arnage as well. No more paying price for being too greedy there But at least the gravel trap is still in the corner.

Thank you Eric!
I really don't know wether I can accept the changes (which I ultimately have to), or is troubled with some of the grass going away.
What I think is bothering me the most is that the "narrow" road is getting wide now, that the road was so narrow had a certain atmosphere to it.

As I said before, as awful all of this is, they better move the white racing line beyond to those new asphalt extensions rather than retain the current boundaries. At least then everybody will be using the extra bits, not only those ones violating them to gain better lap time and/or to pass people in places they shouldn't (and not getting any penalties due to race control being too soft)

Chiana, the position of the white lines is irrelevant. The drivers will use the new asphalt wherever it gives an advantage. The new sections don't look wide enough to put four wheels over so they will get away with it until they smack the barrier. I really don't understand this change.

It's not irrelevant. While all the pro drivers definitely abuse the huge runoffs of especially Corvette Corner and Mulsanne chicanes @ every lap, I've noticed most of the amateur drivers still tend to stick to the "actual line".

The difference is that if the white line is moved, everybody will be doing it, but if not, only most of them will be abusing them without fear of penalty.

Anyway none of these used to be a problem, but with the ever continuing sanitation in ten years time it will all be asphalt everywhere outside the white line.

I take your point, but I am guessing there is some safety justification for these changes so they surely won't move the white lines out to the edge of the new tarmac because then they would lose their pretty new run off areas.
We both agree that this is a horrible change, and it might make the track more dangerous by allowing cars to run closer to the barriers at higher speeds. That's what I don't understand.

Their pretty little run off areas will be pointless regardless due to the violations, but yes I see what you're saying. Such sad state of affairs

I'm still confused is it supposed to be primarily race track improvement or public road improvement? Since those do look like pretty normal asphalt shoulders seen on roads everywhere.

No because the Indy-Arnage between area is about to be removed from the public road map, yet it's getting the exact same asphalt treatment as the rest of this so-called improvement

To think that this was only few years ago
http://www.panoramio.com/photo_explo...c&user=1337264

Anyway after relatively slow turn of Indianapolis, I wonder what possible safety excuse can be given for this. Nobody would touch that left side unless they were making catastrophic mistakes in traffic or just be plain greedy

But it is still a public road, so how is that conclusive or much relevant at all? Why that shoulder matches the typical width of such shoulder on other roads and why the grass wasn't removed completely?

If this was a public road improvement, it would be a bit 0.02% more bearable.
