In belgium a baguette with fries and meat in it is called a mitraillette (yes after the gun). But according to our friend wikipedia in the north of france it's called a 'Americain'.

Stopping in at the famed 'Portes aux Circuit' (known to fans the world over simply as 'Janine's') is one of my annual must-do things. Nice bar, nice coffees and I love the paitings and posters on the walls.

Never been there, but after re-reading Club Arnage Le Mans guide from last year I made a mental note to do that. Would be crawling distance from my tent, so no excuses to not do it!

Exit the main entrance, go to the right, under the viaduct and then a few hundred metres further on your right.

Yep, I know it. It sits just around the corner from the very bottom of the garage rouge? I've walked passed it a hundred times, but strangely enough, I've never been inside......

Now, if he'd said M&S or Waitrose, you'd have ribbed him for being 'toffy' with his food!

Agree with Tescos finest but you have to go for pork & leek. Yummy

Sad face - no sausages in the house to go with a big breakfast!!
Will have a wander up to the Portes aux circuit too, again, driven by lots but never gone in. |

"À 59 ans, Jeanine ne pense pas Ã* la retraite, ça ne lui effleure même pas l'esprit « Sans mon bar, je ne sais rien faire. C'est toute ma vie. Je prendrai ma retraite quand Monsieur Pescaloro arrêtera. Le Mans sans Monsieur Pescarolo, ça ressemblerait Ã* rien », confie sa plus fidèle groupie !"
She might not be there much longer? |
