No it's fine - I wasn't criticising, merely nudging people in the right direction......

OK, I've moved the posts about the ACO's contest to whitemr2's thread. Continue the discussion there if you would please!

Just watched the 1984 footage and at the end there's the point made that the winning Joest 956 was 31st at the end of the first hour.
So - is there scope for a greatest fight back thread - what's the furthest back at the end of hour 1 (or hour 6 maybe?) that's resulted in a win or a genuinely surprisingly result? Happy to sponsor a very small prize to be awarded at the members meeting in 2013... |

If you have nothing better to do the ACO would like you to vote for your greatest Le Mans car.

The voting has been closed for a while now and the winners have been announced last friday:
1920s Bentley Speed 6 1930s Alfa Romeo 8C 1940s Ferrari 166MM 1950s Jaguar D-type 1960s Ford GT40 1970s Porsche 917K 1980s Porsche 956 1990s Mazda 787B + Peugeot 905 2000s Audi R10 TDI 2010s Audi R18 e-tron quattro Also their website got a make-over recently, so a lot of the old stuff must have been binned. Edited to add new website: http://www.24h-lemans.com/ Last edited by vincegail; 5 Feb 2013 at 13:35. |

Am I the only one thinking this map looks wrong? It seem to miss the Esses!? From: http://www.24h-lemans.com/en/program/program.html |

They are there, just not very pronounced.
Edit: Or maybe some track alterations coming up? 2nd Edit: That picture is made by someone with more knowledge of graphics than of the LM circuit. Last edited by vincegail; 7 Feb 2013 at 15:07. |

That map dates back to before they ruined that part of the track for the bloody bikes.

Yeah, I mean they've taken the wrong track layout for their shiny new website. In denial maybe?

It clearly is wrong. The part after the Dunlop Bridge before the Esses is wrong. It's how the track should still look.....

And no kink towards the end of the Mulsanne Straight, -plus only one part of the Ford chicanes.
I think someone got a paper clip and bent it into some weird shape, then thought it looked vaguely like the circuit. |

Hmm, the map isn't the only error I find on the new ACO site:
http://www.24h-lemans.com/en/ Isn't the timer wrong?, or do we have new start time at midnight? Might be for the start of the Le Mans week? |

The Renault Alpine is more of an 'Acquired Taste' and therefore not the main reason I'll be visiting the museum on tuesday again, but the exposition about the Bollée family I do want to visit!
