T. Bodine on probation for 'careless driving'

http://www.nascar.com/2002/news/head...ion/index.html

I know that some of you will agree with this and maybe I do too ..but I think I just have mixed emotions. Todd does need to improve! And mabye this will help him!

Ouch!! Although I feel like he deserved it, sorry Irene, I kinda feel like NASCAR plays favorites sometimes. Plus he sounded sooo sad in the interview after the accident that he won a little pity from me. Especially after I heard Jeff Green's comment. I really felt bad for him.

Okay...my input about this...

NO he dosnt deserve probation cause how many drivers have caused wrecks by their stupid moves and gone off the track and got aways with it. Sometimes it dosnt pay to be a Bodine. But hey it happened so what can you do about it now????? Todd made a mistake but come on how many others have to???

Maybe NAGSCAR is trying to send a message to all the drivers.
Todd "messed up" and the powers that be are saying "Watch It !!!"
Todd is being made an example of in my opinion.

(BTW; I know I said NAGSCAR,
it was for "National Association of Generic Stock Car Auto Racing",
it will be here officially in February 2003 !!!)

Todd is not my favorite driver (sorry Irene) but I tend to agree that it may be sending a message thing to the others.

I think so too but perhaps NASCAR is trying set the table to prevent this from ruining someone's championship hopes by questionable on-track moves from others not in the mix.

Good point Joe Fan.
A driver can be taken out for several races because of an over-aggresive driver putting him into the wall, I catch your drift, I bet you knew that I would.

I don't know. It seems kind of unfair to me. Look at all the drivers who've done worse, and NASCAR says nothing to a lot of them. I don't think he was being overly aggressive, he just made a mistake. Everyone does that once in awhile.

But EVERY week??

Hey- I LIKE the aggresive drivers. But Todd isn't agressive- he pulls DUMB MOVES (sorry Irene) Agressive is going down the middle at Tally or Gega. Agressive is passing when they say it can't be done---- NOT driving thru the grass to pass when it is WET!!! Fine line---yes. But there is one. Todd has to learn that line. He ain't got it yet.

He has mamaged to miff off every driver out there at some time this year (in BOTH series) by wrecking their car.

Rose...U r overexaggerating!!!

Todd does not cause a wreck every week in either series. Yeah I will agree that he still has alot to learn but he is always up there for the most part of the race and has really good finishes so he is doing something right!

Todd has many friends in Nascar and Busch and yeah maybe he does make them mad sometimes withthe way he drives but hey thats racing! Todd has come along way and It hink making an example of him isnt right! But hey it happens.
I dont think what he did Sunday on purpose I htink he misjudged his room and well we all know what happened next!
Yeah he is my cousin but if he wasn't I would still be a fan. So yeah I am going to defend him but I am also going to try and be fair. so I guess I see where you are coming from but hello dont go so far to say every week cause it isnt every week. Accidents happen. I mean look at Jimmy spencer .....need I say more? He looks for accidents!! LOL
but go back and see how many Todd has actually started. he might be involved!

Bodine doesn't agree with punishment

here ya go....part of an article where Todd is talking abovut how many wrecks he was involeved in and caused not every race!

I've been involved in some accidents -- there have been three in Winston Cup and four or five in Busch, but there have been only two times where I've made the mistake that caused the wreck," Bodine said. "I think in some incidents when a driver get in an accident and then goes on TV and runs their mouth, it has a ripple effect.

Here is the rest of the article!

Hey Irene didn't know everyone was over here. On Todd thing, as you know I'm not a big fan of his, but come on give him a break, it was a racing accident. I have noticed that no one cuts Todd any slack on the track, He made a truly inspired save at Talladega when someone got into his bumper, he made another one at Charlotte when Mark Martin gave him a shot in the back, and it isn't just Mark getting into Todd, I see most drivers just muscle him out of their way. I mean after all, if anything happens, you know Todd will be blamed for it (i.e. Jeff Green's remarks after the Charloyte fiasco) no matter who caused it. But the probation thing is completely uncalled for, NASCAR is getting to be more of a gladiator sport every day, if the fans give a driver the thumbs down, then NASCAR feels it must give them some kind of a penalty! But what can you expect when they seem to simply make up the "rules" as they go along, race by race.

In all fairness to Todd I felt that the probation was a bit severe.
Maybe NASCAR is trying to weed out all the non-cookiecutter drivers.
NASCAR doesn't like anyone to attempt to be a badboy.
Todd made a mistake and that was it !!!

Favortism sucks, just ask Darrell Green on the play in which he was called for a pass interference call when the Packers reciever was all over his back and he got the call when he looked up to see were the ball was.Probation for Todd was way to harsh, fine hem yesy but probation?

Sour Grapes...the Packers had calls go against them too. In fact, the head referee called Coach Sherman on Monday too apologize for all the bad calls his team made in that game. BTW...was the final score 30 to 9? I can't remember? hehehe. The best part is they did it minus Brett Farve for almost the entire 2nd half. *G* BTW...I think the call was made because Darrell's walker tripped up the receiver.
