Oran Park V8s

Hrmm... as much as I hate to say it, OP is a HRT track (is there any track that isn't?.... maybe Baskerville), so it doesn't look like we've got much hope.

A few questions:
Will Besnard and Ambrose get their act together on the same weekend?

Will any Ford win, period?

Will any Holden (other than the RT) win?

What's up with Seton? Should he give it away?

Morris seemed to have a bit more pace last time out- will he keep it up?

Who's going to get shafted this weekend?

I think Lowndes has to be given some chance given his form there last year, but realistically I can't see anyone beating Skaife there barring misfortune. Besnard should be quick there after last year's performance as well. Bright the Murf could give Skaife a run for his money, but we'll have to wait and see.

HRT will win, just like they have every year at OP since 1996.

I'm trying to think of another level 1 team who's home track is OP. I can only think of the Lansvale boys. It seems every other level 1 team is based near Melbourne or Brisbane/Gold Coast. Hmmmm..............

David, that is because Lansvale are the only Level 1 team in Sydney.

How about this for a prediction...FORD to win owing to a superhuman effort by the company to support the launch of the AY!! An advertising executives dream!! :-)

Who thinks the highlight of the meeting will be the Group N Historic Touring Car support races?

Yes I agree. Who will win? Ford or Holden?

Yep, count me in - Historics Rule! Just so long as the field is big and varied. The split between those that have enough money to follow the V8 circus and those that are content to stick with the other Historic events has the potential to stuff up some of the best racing you will see anywhere.

I agree, a field that has the Mustang's, Monaro's, Falcon's, maybe even Stubber's Camaro, up the front as well as the Mini's, EH's, Jaguars and Ford Anglia's down the back. Either that, or if there is large entry, run it in two classes, pre-66 and 66-72 classes.

I was asked today if i was going to go to Oran Park for the V8 and i said no, i would actually rather stay home and play soccer. Why would i bother driving 2 and a bit hours to see an HRT white wash as usual. Also you only get to see about 8 or so races in a day and they are all just as bad as the V8 races. The MGs arent worth the time of day and formula holden is as about as exciting as an MG race, formula vee would be more entertaining. Ill save my fuel money for the procar round at wakefield park in a few weeks time.

It'd be a crack if no ford folk turn up, HRT fill up their cars with the dud fuel from the tanks at OP, and Rodney Forbes comes through for a stunning victory

While the racing will not be fantastic at Oran Park the main reson I won't go is the **** facilities out there. I was out there a few weeks ago and I was glad to see that the garbage bins had been painted agian, It is just a shame they can not empty them. If you want to go and stand knee deep in excrament (The Toliets always back up at big race meetings) then Oran Park is the place to be.
