USGP Indy - Lens stuff

Seeing as there are plenty of avid photographers on here, I figured I'd go for it. I posted a similar question in the F1 section for seating, now I'm wondering how my photo ops might be.

I'll probably be sitting in the Corner 10 Terrace. I have an E-300 with the 2 lens kit (14-45 and 40-150). Using the 2x factor for the camera, it'll give me an effective reach of 300mm. I'm thinking of picking up a 1.4xTC as well for an effective 420mm equiv. Anyone knowing the track, will this be enough reach during race time? I'm planning on attending qualifying as well so I can access places I can't during the race, but I'd like to capture some shots of multiple cars actually racing as well.

I don't know the track but after I've been reading elsewhere on the subject of camera restrictions.

To be on the safe side, check with Indy to make sure you can take the lenses you'd like to (and get it in writing) because events including the Aus GP place a restriction on lens size. Sometimes in mm, in which case the E-300 has an advantage with the 2x crop, but also sometimes in physical size.

Well, I'm a spectator first, I'm not a professional photographer. I will have to make it a point to find out their restrictions.

Any way to get a press pass or something for someone who's not a pro?

For the F1 race at Indy? It's impossible for any pro photographer other than those who have signed on to cover i think its like 3/4 of the races, the big agencies (AP, Reuters, Getty, etc), or the local Indy newspapers. Everyone else, you can watch it on TV. Which by the way, F1 does not let TV crews cover the race (like local stations) at the end of the race, they hand a tape to the stations and say, here is your highlight reel, g'day.
