Changes to facilities at Le Mans 2010
Things looking a little quiet on the forum at the moment so i wondered if anyone closer to Le Mans knows what is going to be different for 2010, the new stadium must be close to completion and in recent years the camping and other facilities have changed each year. has anyone heard anything yet?

That would make sense considering Bolton and Le Mans are twinned together.

Yeah, don't ask me why they are twinned together. Plenty of other places that would have been better. Bolton has Bolton Wanderers, Le Mans has 24 Heures Du Mans. Hmmm. I know which city has the bum end of the deal!

Figure that the cabins in the cranes at said stadium probably had the best view going.
Only downside is it obscures some of the view of the Mulsanne from Tertre Rouge campsite. |

Having been on various occasions to the actual 24, also the Historic, I am still amazed at the lack of numbers of toilets, worse still the state of those that are available. The shower/toilet block at the bottom of the main straight is not fit for animals.
On a more amusing note, we camped in the big car park opposite on a couple of occasions, where there is a portable loo block, maintained by a strange elderly woman. You pay for a few sheets of paper, then do your duties. She has a fetish about keeping the floor clean and using an air freshener. I remember on one occasion, her hand appeared under the door, with air freshener, my legs were sprayed with the stuff, Shortly afterwards she mopped the floor to include my feet while still in pole position, Be Warned. |

In 24 years I have never used those particular loos. Use the newer red ones in the sanitised and dehumanised 'Village' - it's the only thing about the changes to the Village that the ACO got right.....

Reminds me of the (apocryphal?) story of the member of parliament who stood up in the House of Commons and berated an opposition MP "He hasn't got the manners of a pig!" he exclaimed. The speaker intervened and demanded the withdrawal of the remark. "I withdraw the remark," said the MP. "The honourable member HAS got the manners of a pig." It sounds like the toilet/shower block in question isn't even fit for MPs. In the meantime, I'll stick with my off-site camping, |

Trying to work out which block you're talking about. There's the block with the al fresco p'wall (urinal) towards the top of the main straight (which has been there for as long as I can remember), then there's the toilets under the Tavano grandstand (to the left of the steps up to the tribunes and the tunnel under the track) opposite the 'Parking Blanc' entrance. But, there is also a new block behind the Wollek tribune just round to the right as you enter the circuit through the 'Parking Blanc' entrance. These new toilets are on a par with the new facilities in the concrete village.

A fairly tenuous link to the thread title, but the demolition of the theatre on the eastern side of Place des Jacobins has begun. The more modern part of the building overlooking Place des Jacobins was nothing special, but the older part of the building behind (facing into the car park where scrutineering takes place) was beautiful.
