Wow, they got swapped. I had a feeling the #1 stop was far too much fuel.

Same here. I thought they would swap ages ago if that was really needed.

Lotterrer took 3 seconds out of Timo that lap. Bit odd to be swapped and still drive that hard.

Either Porsche are trying to put on a show, or it's team orders.

They have 5 minutes plus one lap, and Lotterer is still gaining.

Lotterer's just making the point clear. It also gives Porsche that elusive photo finish.
#8 into the pits on the final lap. |

Lets's hope this bodes well for a decision about next year.

Yet another near-perfect race for the #38 JC DC Oreca.
I wonder why Jota are always looking for new backers when they have such a good track record of delivering results. |

The #38 this year is looking even more dominant than the #36 Signatech was last year.

Do you think the TV commentators have already worked out that the Porsches swapped places during the last pitstops?
During the race wrap-up T. Moody didn't seem to know how and when Bernhard got in front. |

Odd ending made a little more confusing. Moody hadn't realised the lead had changed. Given the fuss made over a potentially racist comment by Coulthard earlier this year, I'll be surprised if the powers don't pick up Moody using the word Darkies, which was completely shocking and inappropriate. |

Pretty good race, shame Toyota completely fell away but otherwise I enjoyed watching that. Mexico should be good.

I think that they ought to sack Moody just because he sucks in the commentators' box, let alone making a comment that could easily be considered offensive if taken the wrong way.
Just look at how many times earlier this year that McNish had to correct him. I knew that Graham wouldn't have an easy job today. |

It was a good race, just a shame that all the action seemed to take place away from the class leaders, afraid the earlier races were just so exciting at the end it could never live up to those

About an hour before the end. Christian Ried was coming out of T5 and applied a little too much throttle. The back got loose and he made some nice tyre marks. Moody said (and I'm paraphrasing here), "Ohhhhh [excited tone], he lays down some darkies"
It was a serious WTF moment. That's the kind of thing that gets you in serious trouble. I actually googled it to see if I just wasn't aware it could be used otherwise, but apparently not. |

Well I've never come across someone being racist while talking about tyre marks before.

No but that doesn't make it OK to use a racist word in another context. That's an insanely inappropriate word to use in broadcasting.

Er, I'm not condoning the use of racist lanaguage or being racist. I'm just saying that it's particularly prattish thing to manage to slip up like that over such an irrelevance.
I'm disappointed you thought I could think it is fine to say something racist. |

Even if he didn't mean it in that context, it can still raise eyebrows when taken of the context he used it in. You can bet that someone will criticize the use of the word and maybe report it to OffCom in the UK. I'd say that it could draw criticism in NA, too, but how many people outside of a few die hard fans watch road racing in the US, especially given the horrible TV coverage here in the states?
Which, as a reminder, Fox this year still relies at least partially on their own commentators for their WEC broadcasts. |
