Chinese Humble Pie

I thought I would start a thread where all of us "non-believers" could eat some Chinese Humble Pie.

Whilst the event hasn't happened yet, it really is looking inevitable.

But to keep the Chinese idea a negative one, I must state that the cars aren't home yet!

It's funny you should put it quite that way.

David Brabham and the Coopers Ferrari boys won the Bahrain GT festival mainly because two-thirds of the field were late returning from a race in China and simply missed it.

I understand that getting them out has always been a concern, considering that the Darwin round is only 2 weeks later.

Since the cars are in China now. I guess you could get the drivers back and line up a field of Aussie Racers to look like the main contenders....

I'd guarantee that the drivers would still complain that you can't pass @ Winton.

Even in an Aussie Racer.

Does anyone know the return travel logistics?. Do the cars fly back to Avalon or Darwin? Where are all the empty transporters at the moment?

planes fly back to Avalon where the empty transporters are sitting atm. Two planes are expected next Wed and Thur, with the first supposedly having all the QLd teams in it, so they can leave first.

I believe they are going directly to Darwin, where the transporters and bits will meet them.

No the transporters are at Avalon, maybe some of the Vic teams took theirs back to the workshop. The teams once cars and equipment have been cleared then have to pack the transporters and head back to the workshops. They then have a few days to prepare for Darwin.

So will 300kph be able to be reached (or topped) in China with the long straights?or will gearing keep them at 290??or so.

So the V8Supercar circus is heading to China, even after I suggested they werent heading there. Oh what a blow. What power that robs me of. Obviously TC doesnt listen to me when I told him China was a bad idea, and Winton was the logical, ready, willing and able alternative.

Meantime back on Planet Earth... I dont mind admitting I was a non-believer in the China event.. that the non-attendance of 2004 and plenty of background noise from participants in the series suggested that 2005 in China was to follow the way of the dodo...

So I was wrong... meantime, I am thinking about heading to Winton to watch the big races on the LG plasma in the Betta/Mitre10 store in Benalla.

MMMMMMMMMMM......... Humble Pie.......

I believe they will be sub-300 due to the gearing, unless TEGA/AVESCO has introduced something new.

Come on big fella, don't feel too bad, you win some & you lose some

As for Humble Pie, Bertalli's Bakery in the main street of Benalla make a really nice one, just the thing for Sunday arvo when you are watching the race.

Washed down with an icy cold diet-coke.
