Interesting thread !
André de Cortanze designed also the Peugeot 905 and the "Pescarolo" C60 from the Courage C60. Tony Southgate designed the Toyota TS 010 of 1992/93. |

Funny that sportscar designers tend to be much more low-profile than those in F1. No really big names like Adrian Newey, Rory Byrne, John Barnard or Harvey Postlethwaite.

82C was a Champcar. 82G, perhaps? (with strange bodywork by Max Sardou, IIRC).

Er, ah, oops.
You are, of course, correct, sir. I just had Red Lobster on the brain. Still, that (the G) was Adrian Newey-penned. (BTW, Andy Thorby worked at March in this timeframe, but IIRC he did not have any input on the sportscar.) |

Someone mentioned the XJR-15/R390 earlier, which reminds me of something an ex-TWR man told me not too long ago. They had, as everyone knew, pretty much the same tub - in fact, the mould for the R390 tub was the very same one used to make the XJR-15, but it had a few extra bits bolted on to create a few slight differences. |

Was the 911 GT1-98 a steel tub or carbon fibre ? Did it use a production chassis or was it a claen sheet design ?

Maybe we can agree that they did it together... Quote:
It was a clean sheet design ( but they had to consider to use it also for the street legal version ) |

I recall something about the 1996 and 1997 Porsche's GT1 that also had Zakspeed manufactured chassis... Is this true?
