Crash Test should be qualifying in the top 5 on the gridCrash Test should be qualifying in the top 5 on the grid
An idea

I'm a big fan of motorsport videos, except I can't bring myself to waste money on things like 'Bathurst's Greatest Crashes' or 'V8 Supercar's Greatest Hits'.

I think it is about time 10/Chevron took a leaf out of the BTCC's book and made a video totally out of incar footage... I'd buy it! They harp on about the fact that they have 7 trillion cameras- why don't they put them to good use?

Would anyone else buy it?

I probably would but I bet they never make it.

Maybe some shots out of the front of Longhursts BMW spoiler over Skyline, that was always great.

I probably would, but not if it was just based on 10 stuff.

If one was made, it would be good if they went right back to the start of RaceCam, some of the different shots that 7 tried over the years, maybe even with some of the commentator/driver chats included, cover the history from 1979-2002.

That would definatly sell i reckon. Not likely though, there are thousands of idea's that have been floated around by fans for videos (early ATCC reviews, Top 10 run-off videos etc....) yet the TV companies never do anything with the footage for some reason, i reckon they're sitting on a gold mine, if only i could get into the channel 7 archives......

What really annoys m about Race Cam is they they insist on changing shot every two or three seconds. You just can't "get into" a shot in that short time. Also, when you see another car looming up in an incar shot to make a pass. They hold onto that shot even when the passing car is well out of frame, so you get to see the build up for a pass, but you miss the pass itself. Finally, i cannot stand it when they have incar footage and you can hear the engine noise, so they dub jangly rock guitar music over the top. why on Earth do they think ANYONE would want to hear music over the top, drowning out the race mnotor???

I look forward to the day when I can press a channel on my digital television to watch an entire race from the cockpit of any particular car.

It is technology currently available in Europe.

A few of us have been wanting them to compile in-car videos for quite awhile.

Although I would prefer in car DVDs with all the cool extras you get with DVDs.

Well hopefully within the next 2 years, things will change.

This reminds of one time, I think it was when Brocky was doing that 'Worst Drivers' show (or something similar) and they had some guy racing around Paris in a Ferrari back in the early 80's or something. Of course they had to put the 'driving' rock music on over the top. They obviously didn't realise something

I believe the footage of the Ferrari was from the video 'Rendezvous', made in i think the late 70s. Nigel Roebuck did a write up on it in Autosport a year or 2 ago. I found it a shop, only goes for 9 minutes and they were charging $44.95.
It was also $44.95 for the video 'Climb Dance', of Vatanan going up Pikes Peak in the Pug 405.
