They could be. and the new Roush Yates engines would give them a boost.

Last I head they were sitting in a ASEMCO ware house in Spring Lake Michigan

The only listing I can find is 3 years old now

I believe they were in Palm Beach two weeks ago for a supercar show (like they were last year)...

Yes, Larbre, Oreca, or Zakspeed can update them.

But why would someone buy an old car and update it when they can purchase a previous year's Corvette C6R from the factory or get a brand new DBR9?

Cost - considerably cheaper to buy and upgrade than purchase a new(ish) C6 or a DBR9......

What was the reserve bid for those ASEMCO Saleens? $600,000 IIRC Which was never met. Updating another $200,000 or more

I think those Saleens are better in a museum or a super car show tour.

a new C6R ~ $1 million USD and used $800,000 min a new BDR9 was $960,000 two years ago

No wonder GT2 is more popular, cars are 1/2 the price of a GT1 car

If you do mean this picture: http://www.corvettetuning.at/fahrzeuge/DSC00063.JPG
That isn't the C5-R of Selleslagh Racing Team/Reneauer or a Fia GT car. Just a privat build C5 racecar.

I believe that for $1mil USD you get the two Saleens, transporter and all the spares, equipment, etc...

My point was that with all of those GT1 applications for Le Mans the Acemco Saleens would have to be considered to be one of them. I am not saying likely, just considered.

The Bear now say the deal for the Acemco Saleens fell through, so I doubt we will se anything but the Labre pair and possibly ARC Bratislava Saleen this June. Which brings me to this:

Why did Labre switch from Aston Martin to Saleen anyways?

I don't know why, but I root for the Saleen. I think in the proper hands (similar to Oreca's investment) that car could win at Le Mans. Bottom line in GT1 is you need a full factory effort if you are going to compete.

Can Labre keep the Saleen on the same performance level as Oreca did?

Maybe we will see the Pe-ka racing S7R too . I doubt Bratislava would get an entry with the chassis they have , but maybe they could hire or buy a newer machine ?

Im wondering if Audi are planning on 4 cars . If they are talking about a single car effort in the ALMS after Sebring ..... with Biela -Pirro only doing the enduro's .

Would hate to see that happen though . 3 Audi V's 3 Pug would be a great battle .

Oreca handed the Saleen program to Larbre shortly after Oreca purchased Courage

That rather overstates the matter - Larbre's statement refers to the team working with Oreca

With the number of entries this year I think it would be better to keep it to 2 Audis and 2 Pugs and let in some other teams. Plus it would make Audi and Pug work out a strategey to keep both cars running rather than having the possibility of a 3rd car running at a pace to finish and 1 car running flat out to break the opposition, and the other running somewhere between the 2.

Lou Gigliotti confirms application for Le Mans this year.

Quote:
“It is our hope that we can perform to the standard that will allow us to be considered for entry into the Le Mans 24 this year. We know that we must show significant performance and stature to be given that opportunity but we are working hard to earn a spot.
From an article at E.I..

Maybe with being the only GT-2 Corvette on the radar at the moment he will have a decent chance of recieving an invite knowing the diversity that the ACO seeks. I would say depending on the teams performance at Sebring but the ACO does not seem to be waiting for the event as a benchmark anymore.

L.P.
