You're absolutely right - in 1979 with Dolomite engines and team-mate to Brett Riley. All the same, I believe few gave him much chance of getting his first Lotus drive, as his CV was fairly modest up to then (more due to poor equipment and a lack of money than to talent)

The MARCH with DOLOMITE engine were F3 cars .

Anyway, as stated, F1's loss is Champcar's gain, since we need our drivers to stick around for longer anyway, if they're not being poached by the other series then they're suffering "F1-Tinted glasses" syndrome.

Bourdais could be around for a while....Da Matta could be back for good, I don't see Junky getting many offers and Tracy is of course with us until he quits.

Add to that precocious new talent like AJ, RHR, Wilson (could still get the F1 call depending on his 2005 performance I guess) and who knows who else in the next few years, and the Champcar lineup all of a sudden looks pretty damn good....

How long until Long Beach again?
