Well done HSCC for listening to their members. Feel sorry for the proper Guards sports racers but as a GT owner cannot wait. Sad it clashes with Pre 63/Peter Auto race but I think we will be going to Norfolk that weekend!

Peter - re the 2014 calendar, it's probably already been noted but if not - Le Mans Classic is 4th-6th July.

Edit - oops sorry, just noticed it was in the very first post on this thread!

I see that AM Club Racing have lost AM GT4 to British GT, I wonder how that will affect their dates / events

Well maybe there will more time for the rest of us to play Chris - longer races ? 60 minute pre 66GT championship ? Longer 50 sports car races to allow for two drivers ? etc etc etc

The economics will be more of a challenge but it could be a good time for AMOC to step (back) up.

They cant, AMOC gave ACR a 5 year contract, 3 years left to run I think.

HRDC don't have the sort of money that the GT4 series provided, they may provide a small part of that money though.

Not that it really concerns me as none of my customers will race with them.

CSCC have published a provisional calendar.
If their App K series comes to fruit, it is going to be a busy year for anyone racing pre-`66 GT Cars.

Once again, looks like too much at certain points of the season! At moment July could have a high or relatively high profile meeting every weekend, then Croft followed by Oldtimer beginning of August.....

There is talk in the media of a 24 hour race for Pre War cars next year. To be held in Portugal at Portimao circuit September or October time.

That's a bold move.....

Come now Mike it would not be the first one.

Oh! But come to think about it ..... they would not have been pre-war then.

Oh! But come to think about it they would be pre First World War .....
so back to my original point.

In the Mag this week- confirmation that the HSCC Autosport 3hrs at Snetterton on June 7-8th will be for GT cars only, and will include GTSCC regulars if they wish to do the event. The race will not count towards Guards championship.

The sports racers will likely have a 1hr race of their own.

24 hrs Pre War race!

Asked if we wanted to do the proposed race about two months ago.

Portimao is not the place as totally unsuited to Pre War stuff.

Those new Bentleys should last at least four hours.

Grid of fifteen max if they want real cars or twenty with VSCC Specials or pretend cars.

Daft idea in my opinion but some I know want to do it.

Hour is enough for Pre War stuff.

Might be a decent idea for organisers to get involved with races that are already on the calender and need more entries rather than this hair brained scheme.

The only thing that seem to be popular are Philip Youngs Flying Scotsman and Alpine Trial and Grid1 at Le Mans Classic. All oversubscribed and full quickly.

Hero are organising a rerun of the London Edinburgh and return in July which is a week
After LMC and having problems filling that.

Lots of people wanted to do Oldtimers last year but didn't turn up on day.

Why screw up a perfectly good historic car for 24 hours when there are real organisers needing entries in proper events.

Try 24 hr race for 60/70's cars before messing with cars that are unsuited for job in hand.

Suppose people behind it are the Bentley mob and you can get a new
/old one of those so won't bugger up to much history.

Can't disagree with your sentiments and comments, John. In truth, I wouldn't dare!

Looks like the idea is being pushed by some Bentley people, as you say. Enjoy the Alpine Trial, looks great event, but maybe not for the waistline...

Yeah, agree with John; completely daft idea. Surely a non realisable romantic notion where the head is clearly coming off second best by a long way to the heart!

I understand elastic waistlines are the way forward in this situation, as sported by men of a certain age in any shopping centre near you...

Not at a shopping mall near me today as its Black Friday.

Old men with elastic waistbands ten inches under their chin

The really stupid ones were those Sans Belt jobs made for middle America.

We are doing LMC and Alpine Trial but am in Staes when Flying Scotsman takes place.

P Y changed date so my mate couldn't dominate in what would be his third historic rally.

AlpineTrial should be interesting as trying an Alta in a rally for first time.

Gareth driving with Jez Haylock as navigator whilst Michael Birch and I in regular Talbot 105.

LMC is usual three Talbots and three cars in other grids .This one depends on us getting all entries as not turning up with just one car in one grid.
