The best beginners track is Clubman Route stage 5, I can get at a high angle through the Kink and the link the drift the whole way through the tunnel! Rockmunky, I suggest you go to arcade mode, get the Blitz car with Medium Sports tyres, Auto gears and no Driving aids and drive it at Clubman Stage 5 now!

I tend to drift when I don't want to, which would make finding something suitable a bit of a nuisance.
How exactly can length be judged? |

By the number of pictures and by how far round the corner it looks. The event will focus on a certain corner(s) on the track so I will be able to do it .

Tricky one, but maybe each time, the drifts need to be judged at the same corner. So for example Turn X at circuit X.
EDIT: We were thinkign of the same thing |

Would a drift count if you start it by deliberately brushing the grass at a corner to move sideways? Obviously thats impossible for the Clubman 5 track though.

Yes you could but the points you get for it may be reduced.

Next in the series of questions...I did a good drift today but spun at the end of it. Would that lose me points or whatever?

Yup, you would lose points. But you can avoid spins by being delicate with the controls.

Tips For Drifting
when you are drifting, you must be delicate with controls because to drift, you need to have no driver aids and drift cars have alot of power, so the wheels spin. I recomend you use analogue sticks.
THE ENTRY Dont go to fast into the corner, if you go to fast you will have massive understeer and you will understeer your way to a certain crash. Find a controlled speed for entry, then Flick your car into the corner. THE SLIDE Treat this as if you are on a rally stage, keep the wheels turning, left, right, left right, left, right. If you find yourself in a deep angle, then turn the wheels hard on the opposite direction of the corner. Keep your throttle controled, only go full throttle if you have to. THE EXIT As you get towards the end of the corner turn the wheels in the opposite directon of the corner, this should line you back up, but be very soft on the steering, because if you turn full you will spin violently. If you are a begginer the best car to start with is the Blitz D1 car at Clubman stage 5. |

Erm, is you were to use grass on entry, you gain more points, wince the car gets so unsettled, and it flicks more, thus resulting in more angle, and more smoke. The only way to get long smoke trails on replay is having the replay on fast forward.
Like that, BTW, I specialize in Holden Commodore drifting. |
