Could be worse. At least it's green, got useful holes in it and you can get right up to it.

The latest style fencing erected in the UK, take Donington for example, is currently bright silver, even taller and no holes for cameras. OK, it's not as high up a bank but it is about as far away frmo anything that moves on track. No point in even considering any camera options for the new section - the crowd barrier must be about 8ft back from the debris fence.

By comparison the green fencing at Spa is a model of perfection.

Sadly I fear that as fences are replaced at all tracks they will be of the 'new standard'. Effective perhaps, but not pretty of spectator friendly for camera users. Such is progress.

Yes it's a pity that the fans are getting more and more alienated from the sport by being pushed further back behind fences year after year.
Gone are the days where you could get close and almost see the drivers eyes.
Yes it's made it safer for drivers and the fans but I do miss the "buzz".
I used to go to Crystal Palace back in the 60s when this was all possible like this picture out of Sam Collins book.

sorry to hear about Donington, still trying to work out the debris fencing that appeared inside surtess at Brands a couple of years back. Its one reason why I tend to avoid the bigger circuits these days, preferring the likes of Lydden. Suppose I was spoiled by Brands in the eighties, when there was little debris fencing.

Has the revamped Snetterton suffered the same fate?
