I would suspect you get a couple or three free goes before the penalties start flying.

No.

If they beach track limits and are caught by the sensor, a permanent observer, or a nominated judge of fact (which is usually but not always the post chiefs/observers) then that's a strike.

If a driver does something daft like drives around an unused piece of track, that's different and they can expect to be pulled in for a chat - which in non race sessions is what the black flag is for.

Looking at speed of recovering the barrier, I'm afraid of Safety Car periods... given the weather conditions there may be quite a few of them and the whole event will end hours later....

I take my hat off to the entire field there - very good driving in difficult conditions. Thought the rain would have tripped up more of the backmarkers, but they generally drove a good controlled race.
