Seb Bourdais Interview!

OK all you Doom and Gloomers. HERE is your chance. RFM has secured an interview with Seb on Saturday.

While I will NOT pepper the poor guy with a bunch of negative BS, I will ask him some hard questions about Long Beach, and if you care to share some thoughtful, respectful, reasonable questions that you think a driver MAY have answers to, I'll be happy to poise them to Seb. he's a straight-shooter, and a very honest guy.

I'll be off line now for approx 20 hours until I get to Sebring. I look forward to your questions.

Well, though nobody responded to this invitation, we did get a very candid one-on-one interview with M. Bourdais and will have it on the site on Sunday, once it has been vetted by the team.

Suffice it to say that M. Bourdais did not pull any punches and did not merely read off a pre-printed index card.

I am anxiously awaiting the interview. Sebastian is my favorite driver. I talked with him briefly at the launch. I asked him if he remembered myself and friend (who was with me at the launch as well)from an elevator ride in Vancouver. His reply: "No. I would be lying if I said I did." An indication of how candid this young racer is.

Sorry, just a completely off topic comment. I always thought Claude Bourbannais was a talent wasted.

Should've gotten the CART ride over Villeneuve, had politics not come into play.

It's too bad that David Rutledge never got an opportunity in CC's. Re: the SeaBass interview, I'm looking forward to reading it!! Mags & Liz, why isn't there any ALMS pics up at RFM?

We're still sorting through them -- and we have to wait for our Managing Editor to put up the galleries, that is his job.

I think Mags has about 1,000 photos altogether. Needless to say, not all of them will be on the website! (Who ever took 1,000 good photos???)

Again off-topic. Sorry. But I've just emailed the webmaster at the ToyotaAtlantic website, via a link provided, and it was returned as undeliverable. Weird.

Ah, there are a few! Go to the "Sebring" pages.

The gallery will take a few weeks as I have to sift throught the thousands of pictures I took. I'm doing it "as I type" I'm afraid though, the camera caught a few too many of a certain car and a certain driver...

Bourdais became a favorite of mine right from St. Petes last year. I enjoy reading what he has to say.

I’d like you to ask him about the points championship: How will he approach it? I enjoyed his aggressive style last year. This year will he go for wins or go for points?

I’d be interested in knowing how much set up information he and Junky share, and on a personal note, how does he find life in the US, and will he be doing any sports cars anywhere this year?

I loook forward the interview as well. I watched F3000 in 2002 and gained a lot of respect for him there, as well as from the Sport Car driving he did. It was no surprise to me that he was as fast as he was right out of the box. I fully expect him to be the 2004 Champion. Can't wait to read the article.

About mid season, last year, it was reported that they were finally getting Bruno's car set up right for him. Seabass was easier, because he took to all of da Matta's set ups. Not only didn't it sound like they were sharing set ups, but it didn't sound as if they were working much on setting up Bruno's car (my paraphrasing sounds more like they were, though).

I've always liked Bruno. He's always been good about photo ops. He's a genuinely nice guy, too. So is his sister. Their parents did a good job.

The interview is done and off to be vetted -- I think you will be pleased at what Sebastien had to say. One funny thing that didn't make it into the interview proper was his characterization of another driver (name withheld to avoid anyone getting thumped) as a standoffish, snobbish, unfriendly [foreigner], whereupon he was told with a smile that a large number of people had said exactly the same thing about HIM -- until they met him!

Bourdais is the quickest guy in CC. Top bloke - gone well up in my estimation! If he's learn to calm himself down a bit, he'll be THE man to beat...the guy is VERY talented.

Well, of course, when I asked the question, the word Corvette crossed my mind, but left as fast as it came. Seriously, should I actually open the dictionary to find out, or will someone fill me in?!!

That means "reviewed." We always offer the teams the chance to review the work we do in case there are errors or anything is included that they would prefer not to reveal at this time. They don't censor our work, mind you -- most are happy with it as is -- but it's courteous to give them the chance to approve.
