Who to replace Pickett at Cytosport?

Since Pickett is injured who do you think will replace him in the RS Spyder for the rest of the season?

Personally I hope it is Lucas Luhr. I always thought that he was a good racer. Unfortunately he didnt get a drive in the R15's this year. But since he is a Works Audi driver they can loan him to Porsche (a reverse of what happened at le mans with Timo and Romain).

This would also be good because Luhr has previous experience with the RS Spyder.

Any other thoughts? I was also thinking either Timo or Romain, but I have a feeling they will be the ones running the Porsche 911 Hybrid at petit this year.

- Colt

I also want to wish Greg Pickett a speedy recovery!

I doubt Audi would loan our Luhr he hasn't driven the car in years. Timo and the rest of them have recently as 2008, the car's current configuration is 2008 spec without the DFI engine.

I'm sure Porsche will loosen somebody. I'm sure they feel they can win this Championship still. I wish Greg a full and speedy recovery but to be honest this might have been this best thing to happen to this Championship, its going to be full attack mode the rest of the way, should make for an exciting final 3 races.

...and while we're here....
I am naive about the dealings of teams and factories so apologize for the simpleton questions, but....

what kind of support does Cytosport get from Porsche?
And can any pro team that runs Porsches request a facorty driver?

Porsche "Factory" teams and factory drivers has always been a source of confusing for me...

No, so far Sascha Maassen isn't available for the next two ALMS races... he already is racing the weekends the Carrera Cup in Zandvoort and Supercup in Spa...

Do they have a spare car? I thought the one crashed was a write off.

Porsche already had a new tub on the plane to Cytosport on the day of the Mid-Ohio race.

Maassen will be available at PLM, so that's possible.

Even though he had a horrible race at Laguna, Memo Gidley has been the teams regular third driver.

According to Porsche Motorsport PR people at Mid Ohio, it is the last existing new tub.

It's not even known if the Mid Ohio tub is a write off-Audi dinged two tubs at Mosport and Detroit in '08, and Dallara repaired both and both were probably raced again. The tub on the #3 Peugeot at Le Mans that broke was the car that was trashed at Silverstone in '08 and was repaired due to similar damage.

Porsche has plenty of other tubs, as no RS Spyder has been written off in a race-the car that Porsche had at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in '08 was a never raced reserve/R&D car.

Porsche follows championships standings just like we do. It won't be lost on them that Porsche could still win the ALMS prototype championship. Given that, it makes no difference what their prior arrangements with Cytosport have been. They'll step up to ensure a competitive driver is in that seat. It will be the cheapest (most cost-effective) "factory program" they've ever done.

23 points behind is a tall order, but a little luck and a Bernhard-type partner for Klaus and it's possible. The high-speed tracks left are not the Honda's (why fool with this "HPD" stuff) favorites.

What next, HORNDAWG, you going to take a chisel to poor Sam Clemens' headstone?

Among works published under a pseudonym are The Federalist Papers, , now known to be written by James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay. They are considered the third most important document in the development of the US government, after the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution / Bill of Rights.

Here's one I like: Man Without a Spleen (Anton Chekhov) Or this one, simple and elegant: Q (Arthur Quiller-Couch)

Quote:
By demonstrating humanity's flaws, foibles, and virtues as exhibited by animals, stories that feature anthropomorphized characters-- that is, talking animals-- can provide readers with a greater understanding of human psychology and behavior.

Talking animals, regardless of their current or past literary popularity or lack thereof have had a long and distinguished history in both children's and adult storytelling. Typically, stories that feature talking animals portray these characters with human attitudes and thoughts, anxieties and troubles. This category of narrative is far from being a new or exclusively Western construct. Creation myths and folklore from the world over are rife with animals and people communicating in a common language as well as animals taking on the role of surrogate human-- often in didactic morality tales-- in a human-like society.- Eugie Foster

That is not what the issue was, but I am sure you know that.

Actually, I have no idea what the point was. So let me restate. My phrase "it makes no difference," refers to a post above that wondered what "the relationship" (contractual, I assume), between Porsche an Cytosport was. I guess, it was thought to be relevant in the question of who might replace Pickett.

My point was really pretty simple: Regardless of the existing relationship, Porsche will probably make the best driver possible available to the team to finish the season...even if they are not a "factory supported" team.

Whether that is true or not, I hope it is...since I want the best possible racing among the few prototypes in the ALMS.

No one in the real world would go on about pseudonyms, pro or con, or just as a matter of knowledge, would they?

Only in a forum. Not on topic? Whoops. Sorry.

Here's an idea for the dawgie: In responding to my post, how about references to anything other than the topic are extraneous and unwelcome?

Then not putting anything extraneous in the post and staying on topic might be advisable. As to being unwelcome .

The attempt at obfuscating the double standard displayed does not change it!

The best driver available, and who knows the car intimately when he drove the same car for Dyson Racing, is Butch Leitzinger and he's currently without a drive! Let's hope that Butch gets the call!
