Some are suggesting that Max Papis may be in this seat for Indy. Papis has also been linked to a Cheever Indy seat as well...

well thats a shame for jacques as i think he was in for a pretty good year , I hope he can recovery quickly and come back as soon as possible.

as for a replacement , who knows ??? there are plenty of good drivers out there looking for a ride , two have been mentioned above , Max Papis and Memo Gidley , why not throw Roberto Moreno in the mix as well.

will be interesting to see who they pick , but I wish jacques a speedy recovery

With Jaques out, the season just became a little less interesting. I love the way the guy races and the rest of the races will be a little hollow without him.

Still, it now becomes alot easier. I don't have to worry about cheering for one Lazier over the other. As Jaques' injury was an unforseen thing, I will have to change my prediction for 500 winner back to Buddy.

But i sure want to see Jaques win it someday. I like that guy.

That's a real shame. Jaques has been competitive all year, and certainly would have taken the fight to everyone at Indy.

Is the indy500 entry lodged by driver or car? What I mean is, will the menard team lose Lazier's entry as he's injured, or are they allowed to find a replacement as long as they race the same car no?

Get Moreno as far away from a racing seat as possible in my opinion.

Its the car that's entered!, if it happens: a qualified car can change hands

At the Indianapolis 500, the car is considered the entry. You can change drivers at any time, but the car only gets three qualifying attempts. Once a car is bumped out, it is done for the race. The driver, of course, can move on and qualify another car.

Since Menard already has cars entered, he can still place (or replace) anyone he wants in the car at any time. However, if he changes drivers after the car is qualified, the car must start from the rear.

Having said that, any replacement driver must have a current IRL license and pass the medical exam. Drivers who have not raced at the speedway for some years may be required to take a refresher test.
