Goat Boy has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
New Zealand Festival of Motor Racing

On this weekend and next, with about a million Ferraris including three F1 cars

Anyone going?

20b should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I'll will be there snapping away as usual. Looks like some of the classes are a bit low on numbers this year (a common trend throughout motorsport in NZ) but that's made up by the fact there are three Formula One cars!

Yeahbut...two of them just have one digit different in the number on the side!

Edit (from another thread) Hampton Downs - Ferrari Festival 16-18 Jan 14

http://www.hamptondowns.com/pages/56/eventscalendar.htm

PS the Tipo 156s have a nice low growl....possibly because they have been detuned for longevity

To see the 1994 Ferrari screaming full tilt is something that has to been seen! Not sure how the turbos will sound as I havnt seen them in action, but can tell you the 3.5l V12 is bliss!

Would highly recommend heading along for a look, even if you are not that big on Ferrari's!

The turbo does sound great. Seen it at PI many times. He does 1.31's around there pre resurface which is a bit slower (2 seconds) than the quickest F5000's. Still quick of course ie well over 300kph thru turn one (at PI that is). Come to think of it..... 300kph thru turn 1 at HD would be quite something............

I hear the newer v12 is geared very low.

Will be disappointing if they've been de-tuned/geared to the point where they are not quicker than an F5000. I know F5000's are not slow by any means, but an F1 car should be a lot quicker.

Check My laps. Its all there.

The outright lap record was broken again by the kid. 59.4 ish I think.

Watching him 'hot dog'* it repeatedly out of the hairpin was something else.

*Hot dog = oversteer wheel spin from a Lola T400 in 2nd gear exiting a corner. Brilliant.

KRDG, just to put things into perspective, let me remind you that the"kid" was being bested by a 71 year old veteran driver by the name of Ken Smith, right up until Ken's engine 'threw a leg out of bed' in the very first race.

The old Boy also did a 59.4 in qualifying, and was also fatting it it off the hairpin but going foward with superior throttle control than the "kid".

It begs the question does it not, how good is the "kid" if he and all his Dad's mega-money cant beat a 71 year old?
