Over subscribed Le Mans Test Day 2011 discussion
I found this heading over on Mariantic .
"76 cars allowed @ LM test day - FLMs can run " for fun" How do you expect the ACO to work this out then ? Is it time for the ACO to possibily extend their pit spaces ? How would you be fair to a team that has supported the series for years , only for them not to get an entry cuz of some works team ? Should works entries be limited to 2 cars max , within the spirit of the rule ? Thoughts please ..... |

76 cars probably equals, if there are no withdrawals, the 56 LM entries + the 10 reserves + 10 FLM cars. So the number actually makes sense once you think about it.

Ok , but this isnt all about Le mans either ..... take away the 10 or so LMPC , there are still 65 cars that will compete in the test , AMR wont be there along with a few other teams .
So what series can entertain that amount ? Bearing in mind that they are all Euro entries . |

Mr B, as said above, I do think you're getting a little confused mate. This is only about the Official Test Day for the Le Mans 24 Hours, it has nothing to do with any of the Le Mans associated series (ILMC/LMS/ALMS/AsLMS). The figures all add up. The 56 invited to race at Le Mans, the reserve list of 10 cars and the invitation from the ACO for up to 10 FLM cars to also take part in the Test Day (which I'm not at all in favour of).

Mind you they only said the maximum is 76 cars...not saying they will actually have 76.
Most US teams won't make the trip as the ALMS race at Long Beach is just one week before the test day. Those teams will use the data they get from Porsche, Ferrari or Larbre (Corvette). Only new cars and new drivers really have to go and take part in April. |

The rule says 2 cars per team ..... and its blatently obvious that the 3rd Pug car is none other than Pug itself .
Same with Audi ..... Audi Sport NA dont run anymore . Then let the ACO change their rules , and say 3 cars per team then . I would have no issue with a works outfit letting a privateer run a 3rd car . |
