Still lives in New Zealand at the family farm, although he has reduced his day-to-day involvement recently. Also tested suspensions for Toyota for a while in the 1990's.

I was watchin the review of 1976 on Motors TV Legends and he was still quick in the Ensign then. He was still relatively young when he retired.

He's still going strong, often pops up on TV and Radio here.Remember too he was No1 driver for Ferrari,so he was very quick.Unfortunately he never won an F1 Gp,He always moved to teams just as they became uncompetitive. He also built his own F1 car.He certainally drove the Ensign fast in his last year,if it had been reliable he could have posted some good finishes. If you look at photos of 1976 racing the Ensign is always just behind Hunt and Lauda. He retired young but he was very young when he started GP racing.

I believe Nigel Roebuck was working with Chris on a biography, and in true Amon form, the bad luck kicked in and all the transcripts and notes were lost before publication. A great bloke and one of the ones who SHOULD have won some grands prix.

Amen

I got to meet Chris at the meeting last year at Hampton Downs held in his honour. A very self effacing Mr all round good egg

He seemed to enjoy the meeting very much...especially being re-united with some of his old cars.
