If Barrichello disobeyed team orders......
...would M Schumacher crash fatally trying to outqualify him in the next round? Unlikely I know, but I bet Ferrari enforced team orders for MS because they did not want another Gilles Villeneuve episode.

That might be a bit of a stretch. They would have MS pass him somewhere in the race so I dont think qualifying would be that important as long as they were close.

No, in these modern times, TGF would get his lawyer to have Rubens fired. If Rubens had anything remotely resembling a backbone, he'd then give the Mother of All Press Conferences and tell the whole truth about Ferrari to a breathlessly waiting world.
On second thought, remembering the times TGF has deliberately rammed people off the track ... Damon, Jacques and Frenzy so far ... |

It's a pity RB won't do it though. I would love to see the look on TGF's face if he did that!

More like a resurrection really. MSch is supposed to have a fatal accident in qualifying, and then he rises to do all sorts of things later during the race. This would be the perfect movie starring Silvestr Stallone.

What teamorders?
"Rubens, this is Ross. Please in you last qualifying run do a time 0.050s slower than Michaels, but no more because at 0.100s is Ralf and you want a first row start do you?" |

It's a non-question as this scenario will never happen because Rubens will never be in front!!!

F1Manoz: Austria 2001, Britain 2000 - there have been a few rare times.

Good point about Austria 2001. But in fact he DID disobeyed the orders. The orders were quite clear: either pass Coulthard or, if it was not possible, let Schumacher give it a try. He did none of the above.
What happened in 2000 at Silverstone? Sorry. He was in front, I was questioning the teamorders bit. Last edited by Red; 9 May 2002 at 08:32. |

For a driver with certain clauses in his contract, breaking team orders would be as serious as not turning up one weekend. He signed for it, he gotta do it.
If he coud consistently prove as quick and determined as his team-mate he might stand an ever-so feint chance of turning round thirty-odd years of Ferrari team policy. Since he can't he should be content with having the best chance by far of coming in second every race. Even one season of fullfilling that basic requirement would strenghten the no team orders argument - we are still waiting for that. |

This is old stuff.
This season RB is playing smooth, and already spoke clearly he's the #2 and he will always obey team orders. He wants one more year at Ferrari, that's the deal. |

Is it not the same senario as Senna explained in 93 when he talked about Prost having everthing his way and the rest of the field having lead boots.. If MS is the great driver we know then let RB race, contracts which do not allow a driver to pass a team mate are pathetic..this is not motor racing in my view and does not make the person the contract favours a worthy champion.
I have far more respect for Williams and Mclaren's approach at having no team orders until neccesary and allowing the drivers to win races they deserve. This contract that Ferrari has with MS is the one thing that lets Ferrari down as a team...I have great respect for MS but racing is about beating your team mate on the track rather than a signature on a contract. Regards Guy |
