On eurosport deutschland Norbert Singer said that Porsche will return but that he did't know (or wanted to say) when.

This is going to be interesting. If Porsche and Audi do return to sportscar racing, it would be fascinating to check how similar the cars prove to be.
There was a lot of input from Norbert Singer's team in the R8 - that banned Ten Tenths member Dr. Austin once called "the car that goes like a Porsche, races like a Porsche, looks like a Porsche, wins like a Porsche" - and smells like one too. |

It would seem from all the rumors on this forum, that no one is going to build a prototype.

Any return woulb be to win overall, probably with an LMGTP for performance and marketing reasons. |

Sorry JAG but Porsche AG will not give any kind of support to any private team to run Carrera GT.

well other than an LMGTP i don't see them making a GTS version of a 911/996 or whatever you call it now
The GTS if at all most likely must bebased on the Carrerra GT shouldn't it it has the ingredients- mid ship V10 blah blah it is porsche and to stick it to th Vettes and the Marenello and the new vipers next year. Of course if it is a LMGTP they have the VAG parts bin and the 4 litre TT V8 to use... |

i wouldn't be so sure about that. there are already two teams that are very interestd in converting the carrera GT into a GTS race car, and i believe that porsche would offer a certain level of support if a few things happen that seem to be moving in place. stay tuned and you will see what i mean.

The Carrera GT I believe will race as the new GTS Supercars need less mods for racing than the current GTS cars (as they are already basically race cars), but only in privateer hands and as I say with maybe back door support. Last edited by JAG; 15 Jun 2003 at 20:42. |

I'd love to see a front-line works Porsche team back at Le Mans. Hasn't been quite the same without them.

The porsche carrera GT was originally conceived as a GTP machine but unfortunately new technical regulations that were introduced for lemans part-way through it's development made it in-eligable. They decided to press on and make it a road car though to save all that hard work. I doubt whether Porsche will embark on another such program in the near future.
But, on a lighter side... CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAM BENTLEY AND BIG-UP TO BIG DAVE THE HEAD MECHANIC ON CAR NO.7!!! |

Carrera GT was based on GT1 98 and LMP2000 V10.
Works return will be in 2005 |

Oh, i guess i might have got confused somewhere then. Either of those chassis's wouldn't put up much of a fight to the modern cars so i guess a new chassis might be in order.
Where did you find that the works return was in 2005? |

Porshe should compete for an all out victory, either with an LMP900, or an LMP675, which acording to Autosport should be able to win in theory.

if porsche come back they will blow everyone away, especially in 900 class. There's only one company that can stop them... and thats Jaguar, and for some reason i dont think they'll be doin Le Mans in the near future, can't think why!

ACO seems to be quite confident on the coming back of Porsche in the next years, maybe even in 2004... but I've got no news or any official confirmation...
