Rallycross/Mallory October 18th

The commentator at todays BRSCC meeting @ Mallory. annouced that the Rallycross Finals meeting had been moved from Croft to Mallory and would be on Sunday October 18th. As and when I know who's organising it, I'll put the details on here, because I'm sure that like Elaine and myself, you'll want to be there.

Hmm, sounds interesting. Wonder what I'm doing that week-end, never done Rallycross. And if this means Mallory will become a permanent fixture, even if not this year I'll have to make sure I go another time.

Didn't know Mallory had a rallycross circuit, how is it attached to the main one, or is it completely seperate?

Never done rallycross before so may have to make a trip to do this one.

Have a look at this. After all it is a sister site to this

http://www.parcferme.com/content/view/8152/2/

Bezzers the track has not been built yet.

Never been to a Rallycross so it could be interesting. Usually when I see it on the tv it's raining..

Great that RallyX is comingto Mallory, though sad that this is at Crofts expense. Through from the look of things it is outside of their control.
I'll be sure to be at Mallory on 18th Oct.

I have done 2 Rallycross events so far at Pembrey and have enjoyed both of them. These guys put on a great show. I'm looking forward to their next visit to Pembrey. Wish I could get to the final!

So, will this be a totally new circuit or will it use the Roger Clark Curve around the lake like back in the late 70's / early 80's?

Read about this meeting in Autosport this week. RallyX was my first venture into marshalling many moons ago at Lydden. I'll definitely be there for this.

Fay was asked last week if she would be chief marshal for this event, so now you all know who to volunteer to.

Send PMs to either me or Fay remember to include names and address on PMs.

Hi Dave

As I said at Donington at the weekend, I am Chief Marshal for the Rallycross meeting at Mallory, so all volunteers to me please. I already have a long list in only 2 days.

Tickets arrived safely this morning - no expense spared getting the postie to disturb me for a signature, so if you're out of the house please check for one of those little cards before asking where your tickets are

Good to see that Andy is Clerking (so far north of Lydden!) and that we've got 4 hours of live coverage again.

Appreciate the advance notice that the lunch is early to allow for 12:00 start to live TV, I might just try to cram 2 Mallory breakfasts down in case lunch isn't ready so unusually early.

For those still waiting to collect your post, signon is 08:15-08:45 and on post 09:15

See you all there, and hope those who are new to RX enjoy themselves

Some pics of the track layout here http://www.britishrallycross.com/?p=588

Entry list here http://www.rallycrossuk.com/pdf_file...lory_entry.pdf

Cheers, David

Wondered what the collect card the postie put through the door this morning was, now I know. Why recorded delivery I wonder, thats a first (don't even get the GP tickets recorded.

For you RallyX regulars, are there any strand quirks on rallyX cars we should be aware of ie cut offs in the usual place etc.

Flagging's a lot easier. There's only a yellow, and a red.

Cut offs etc as normal, but the biggest difference is in the racing itself. We started with RX and moved on to circuit stuff & couldn't believe how long the races were. Expect 3 or 4 laps with maybe 5 at the end of the day, and grids of single figures or just over. But they will cram 50-60 races into the day!

Take care after the chequered (if they see it) as they can be a bit of showboating, and this is the end of the season. It's not unknown to have stops / overtakes after the chequered when the yellows cover the exit - or even the odd short cut or brief driving WD - you've been warned!!!

The cars (and drivers?) are tougher - a puncture often means keep going until the rims shatter, and then run on the brake disc! Sadly, the juniors are very short of entrants this year, but expect them to be quite assertive(!?!). The buggies are manic - popular with some, but not my cup of tea.

On a practical note - if it's dry and you are downwind of any of the loose sections, expect to need a bath before being allowed back into the car, never mind the house. The dust will get everywhere and sticks to suncream on hot days & wet probans on rainy ones. Extra drinks just to keep your mouth cleansed would be wise.

If you get a chance, try digging around on youtube for some Lydden Rallycross clips - the circuit is pretty similar to Mallory and should give you a good feel for how they shift (and how they drive).

Hope you enjoy and become a convert - see you there.

Hi Guys - does anyone have a spare ticket for this? Mine are stuck at the local sorting office, and I have no way of getting there to collect them before next week - a little late. I can meet you at Mallory if you can help.

thanks
Marc.
