Talking about Sunbeams I remember these ones although some were Road Saloons -

Mike Marlowe - blue/white (I think it was a Ti)
Rob Beaumont - black/silver
Phil Seaman
Neil Hasler - red/silver
Craig Davies - blue (was this the Preptech one ?)
Nick Davies
Jonathan Woodward - orange/silver
Andy Clarkin - red
Joss Ronchetti - black/silver (before the big mods)

Feel free to fill in the missing blanks or even correct me.

Dont remenber Neil Haslers being red, First was black/silver then later went to white with a green stripe.
Phil Seamans was/is bright green with orange stripe, a proper well prepped car, shame its sat doing nothing. Come on Joss get him all fired up for it again!!!

Mike Marlowes was a Ti at first as he bought my 1700 Group 2 engine off me he then converted it to Lotus and sold it to Craig so all the same car. Certainly were some Sunbeams out there back then same as SD1's we had about 8 of those buggers as well.

Sorry got myself mixed up with Neil Hasler, but there was definately someone with a red/silver strip car as I have a photo of it.

Plus someone also had a blue/red strip car. Can't remember their name though.

I think Mark Wyatt had a red with silver stripe one? The name Nick Kaye rings a bell too?

That's it Mark Wyatt and Eric Crawley, they sound familiar. Sorry guys looks like I'm talking about SRS.

Mark may have been the blue one. I'll try finding the photos and upload them. Then someone can confirmed.

I don't remember John Smirthwaite though

Seeing the list of cars still sitting in garages is such a shame Its great one or two guys still have cars and are back out racing them.

We tried doing this in Rallycross a few years but trying to locate cars was a nightmare. Let alone trying to get people back out to race. We did start Revivals Rallycross but not many original modified cars entered only really new drivers which was a shame. Although we started with a few old cars -

Scott Lawson - ex Tony Bell MR2
Bob Gooding - ex Trevor Reeves Escort
Lance Forster - ex Mark Kaye Mini (wrote off but was re-shelled)

Brian Thornton then joined us in his orginal Metro.

I might have made a mistake earlier on the Preptech car, as I seem to have a photo of a blue Sunbeam but the program says Ray Donner is the driver. Craig Davies is down as driving a Starion ?

Btw I remember a couple of black Escort Mk2s Russell Clark and Steve Guard.

That Starion did the rounds, It was debutted at Mallory by Lee ???? or ???? Lee and was very quick (must have suited the circuit) was immediately sold on then sold to Craig then Mike Marlow, then Phil Rowley (order may be wrong)who sold it on again and I think not certain that its Neil Phillpots who races it in Classic Thunder now. I had some good races with Phil in that that thing that had a tendency to go off into the scenery if you touched the throttle too early in a bend so if you could get right up behind it the driver would inevitably try to floor it through a bend and off he would go into the kitty litter or worse! The East London crew of Craig, Andy Clarkin, Ray Donner, Andy Pipe and interloper W.Sussex boy Mike Marlow had a tendancy to have a swap up of cars. Incidently word on the street is the East London Massive are due to return to Classic Thunder in 2011 and Craig has already done some rounds in the BTCC Touring Car Sierra and I believe is sponsoring the championship next season.

Ahhh Lydden TruckSpeed - I had a video of that too - I raced there in October 1990, and was having a damn good race until the blessed engine broke a lifter in the final.

Thems was the days! They don't know they're born now......
I was watching at that meeting. What car was you driving a Nova ?

This isn't the same Andy Coombs is it that went into Minicross in an orange Mini, if it is then I have a great photo of battling him around Chessons at Lydden.

He got me back with a peach of a move along the Knife Edge at Brands though

Andy went onto race Caterhams.
