a few changes:
1 Mclaren (Ron can't stand loosing) 2 Ferrari 3 Williams 4 BAR (Panis gives the team a boost) 5 Benetton (Renault engine not perfect yet) 6 Arrows (yes indeed, Jos and Pedro are gonna show what they can do with a reliable car) 7 Jordan (having trouble finding good replacements for the staf they lost, drivers start making mistakes, and driving eachother off track) 8 Jaguar (Car is stil designed by the same people that created last year's disaster, Eddy shows (again) that his driving skil is not as good as the Ferrari made it look) 9 Sauber (A Ferrari engine does'nt make a fast car, thay've had it for 4 years and have'nt improved yet, drivers lack experience) 10 Prost (like Sauber, but the Prost was even worse last year, Alesi is burned out, Mazzacane will have trouble keeping away from p22) 11 Minardi (who else, but they now have a chance to beat 1 Prost every race) |

Alain owns a large part of the team, Pedro Diniz and his father bought a large part this year, an part is owned by a german company.

Steve,
thank you, I thought Alain hadn't bought the team from Ligier, just was appointed as director by new team's owners. But is he had invested such an enoumous amount how is he going to return it??? |

Interesting......Alesi is burned out...didn't notice that.
Well, after all the changes over the last months I'd say that Prost has a chance to get some points this year. Not with Gaston, but with Jean...lol. Anyway, Minardi and Prost should get some points in 2001, and I hope they'll take you all by surprise (Minardi fan apart...lol). |

My choice of top five:
1McLaren - Hakkinen's last year in the sport 2Ferrari - Love him or hate him, TGF is the factor 3Willams - Great chassis inherited from last year, new engines, and Ralf. 4BAR - Come on, Honda! 5Jaguar - I hope Eddie can prove it to everybody |

1) McLaren-RD won't tolerate failure again
2) Ferrari-Close, but McLaren will be slightly better 3) BAR-With JV and Panis, 2 fast experienced drivers = Williams-Montoya will take awhile to settle 5) Jordan-Honda's second team, defections will hurt 6) Benetton-Renault will be unreliable 7) Jaguar-improving 8) Sauber-status quo, good start, fortunes fade as season progresses 9) Prost-will improve 10)Minardi-status quo: promise with no funding 11)Arrows-curse of the AMT, will be fast but entirely let down by engine |

For those who are interested, towards the end of the month, we are going to start a topic asking for people's top 6 for the driver's and constructors championship. We will then save it, and release it again at the end of the year. Right now the prize is bragging rights, but that may change.
You could give in your predictions the day I start the topic if you want, but you would probably be wise to wait until a few testing results are in. The topic will be closed before the cars leave the pits on Friday at Melbourne. Gerard will be having a different competition where you give your predictions on a race by race basis, and points are awarded to each person based on the accuracy of your predictions. Most points at the end of the season wins. This should be even more fun. |

I wish it were different, but:
1. McLaren (RD & Merc will get serious) 2. Ferrari (TGF WDC, but RB seems to dislike the publicity of podiams 3. Willams (New tyres may steal the odd 10 pointer) 4. BAR (Great drivers & Honda bits) 5. Benetton (Just not up to Willams & BAR Speed but very good) 6. Jordan (Tough year with skeleton crew & Honda No. 2 Status) Gets tough from here..... 7. Arrows (2 great drivers but worried about that engine) 8. Sauber (only because there are disasters for bottom 3) 9. Jaguar (Ron Dennis will steal a jaguar badge to put on TGF's ferrari to up the No. of DNF's to 10-15) 10. Prost in for tough year again) 11 Minardi (would love to see them up 2 or 3 spots but current engine, sponsor & driver deals dont inspire me) Whatever happens, I hope we have close battles throughout. |

Sorry about Ralf, cause he`ll be second on team !, trust me... 1. Ferrari 2. McLaren 3. Williams 4. BAR (lot of money on improvements) 5. Jordan 6. Sauber 7. Benetton (JB has to impress Williams for his utopic return on 2003 !!!) 8. Prost (This can be his last chance) 9. Jaguar 10. Arrows 11. Minardi |

#1: McLaren
#2: Ferrari #3: BAR.... #1 Honda team...'cuz it's "more stable" than what seems to be going on at Jordan recently..... 'sigh #4: Williams #5: Jordan... hope I'm wrong about this.... #6: Benetton #7: Prost....case of "addition by subtraction" plus 2000 Marnello ponies matched to Ferrari's "buns of carbon fibre" #8: Jaguar.... in the process of getting its act together but still a couple of years to go... don't worry Neil... we WILL see this happen in our lifetime... of course I'm planning on living another 40 years! #9: Sauber #10: Minardi... even with no engine will be faster then #11: Arrows...with the re-badged Peugeot...see Prost take care all Murph |

1 McLaren
2 Ferrari 3 BAR 4 Williams (I see RS and JPM taking each other out a few times) 5 Jordan 6 Benetton 7 Prost 8 Jaguar 9 Sauber (same engine as Prost but inexperienced drivers) 10 Arrows (maybe they can make a compatible chassis for the rebadged Pug) 11 ??Minardi??(I hope they make the grid) Pretty safe choices, you'd think? |

why are there stil people who have doubts about the AMT engine??, it's not a rebadged Peugeot, AMT is doing a lot of development work:
testing day 1: 78 laps for Jos testing day 2: 46 laps Hydraulic problems testing day 3: 108 laps with the Arrows AMT so that's 232 laps whitout one engine blowing up. Renault seem to have more problems |

Hey, hey, hey, TRD, I think JPM will be faster than RS, so I can`t see any problem for positions on the race !!!
