Britcar 24...
I know, I know, it's very early.
Just wondering, if it's possible to find out where drivers or teams are based? I want to do features an stuff, but it'd have to be local papers really, but if I can find a local angle... Any help muchos appreciated Cheers. |

I googled for some Britcar info some time ago, and ended up in the pistonheads.com-forum. If I remember correctly a number of members of teams involved in Britcar post there, maybe you should post a similar thread there.
Or maybe just call/email the Britcar organisation. Oh, and will Team Top Gear be back for this year's 24hrs? Last edited by Speed-King; 6 Jul 2008 at 00:33. |

But it should be a great race this year as plenty of BGT teams have expressed an interest, lets hope for a full grid of high quality teams! Just spotted the provisional entry list http://www.britcar24hr.co.uk/cms/news.php?item.647.1 Looks like a must visit event! Last edited by AstonGeoff; 6 Jul 2008 at 09:15. |

Its a brilliant event! Just a shame there isn't more marketing for the event, although this year they will have a stand in Milton Keynes shopping centre.
I worked for Mazda Motorsport for the first 2 years when they entered and the event has grown with many top teams and drivers wanting to take part. That entry list is brilliant. Can't wait for the race now |

Everything from race prepped road going saloons, to hordes of GT3 spec Moslers, with all points in between.
It's one of my 'must do' events, along with LM, LM Classic, Spa, and Nurburgring 24 hour races. In fact, find footage of the Nurburgring 24 hours for an idea? |

From my point-of-view, the Britcar series somehow has lost the VLN-ish run-what-you-brung spirit of their starting years and has become more of a proper GT-series. While this is certainly not bad, I must say, that I liked the series better in it's earlier stages. Nowadays I think the Britcar 24 is mostly a major GT3 endurance event. Same goes by the way for the 24hrs at Zolder, which also left behind the wild GT and touring car mix of the earlier Belcar days and switched to a predominately GT3 format.
Luckily these two events don't collide this year. They did last year and i think it showed in the low entry numbers at the Belgian event. Last edited by Speed-King; 6 Jul 2008 at 22:20. |

I'm not sure if the following post should be allowed in the Sportscars forum, but the following entry piqued my curiosity.

A little research produced these pictures: Apparently its got a twin turbo 2.0L TDI producing 260 HP. You can see it "looming" in about 9th place. It looks really funny racing against the little Golfs. According to this article, the van set the fastest lap at the Rockingham VW Cup race. It's even factory backed! |

Good to see Racing Box on the provisional list (maybe the Lucchini is legal by now - sorry)
They had a nicely presented and reasonably competitive E46 M3 last year - and 330 diesel (in the Top Gear class though without that HUGE wing TG ran) which they seemed to spend 23 hours changing the motor of. Hopefully they'll have got all that done BEFORE the race this time... |

Duller were probably one of the most proffessional outfits there, certainly last year they changed tyres after every stint! Thats a whole lot of tyres!

I think it will suprise a few people! It is very competetive in the VW Cup and the main driver is very quick in the wet! No FEAR! Scares the heck out of us marshals though
