So the guy with all these cars must put us all to shame . He has them in a couple of industrial units . If that was not enough he has modified one of the units to his home for him and his Mrs . Now even I could not convince Mrs Delta to do that . Did you see the photo on the wall with the car doing wheelie with surf board on top. This is how he runs the car .11 secs for 1/4 mile . He is bonkers .They are desperate to come to Goodwood and I hope they do. Guess we don’t realise how lucky we are here at home .Mind you I could easily live out here . 32 degrees today . Wish me luck with customs for tomorrow . ?

There are some real bonkers petrolheads in NZ aren't there! When I was at Hampton Downs just spectating, I'd get talking to people about cars and racing, and before you knew it, they'd be inviting you to their place. Kiwis are, in general, a friendly bunch.
Anyway, good luck with the customs clearance tomorrow Iain. I really hope it all goes smoothly - you definitely don't need any more delays at this stage. |

Great news Iain. Good luck for getting the cars to Timaru on time.
Are you using the Ferry to get cars from North to South Island? |

That's great news! You must all be relieved by that news?
Not quite out of the woods yet, but as EB said, it should be easily doable to get the cars there in time now that they're cleared through customs. And I wouldn't be surprised if they're not hampered by tachograph restrictions there, so maybe the driver can make good time? I've noticed that, in many respects, they don't go in for all the rules & regulations and nannying behaviour that we have here. People are - shock, horror - still expected to actually have some personal responsibility. I remember one time we were driving along a coastal route not far outside Auckland, and there had been some storms in the days previous which had washed away part of the road where there was a drop down to the beach. There was just about enough of the tarmac left intact to squeeze through slowly one car at a time. Now, if that had been here, the entire road and beach would be cordoned off for about a mile in each direction, along with barriers, cones, diversions, warning signs & flashing lights, and it would most likely remain that way for months. What did they do there? A few cones around the edge of the collapse and a sign saying mind how you go! |
