Yoong Montoya should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
What's happened to Yamaha this year?

Last year they started badly, but won 2 races in the hands of Max Biaggi and Checa almost won in the wet at Rio.

But this year, they haven't even come close to leading a race, let alone win one. What the hell happened to them? Was Biaggi an expert developer or what?

IMO they've just lost their way and the bike just isn't competitive enough. Add to that they don't have a 'name' rider and it explains the lack of results.

Add to the not winning, they haven't even had a podium!

If you ignore Ducati, and the newnew hondas Yamaha were there (with the old hondas & aprilia etc). Pre-season they were fannying about trying to be all clever, but most of the parts tested didnt work so had to go back to basic. Hence, wasting off season testing, and then starting season with same bike as last year, bar fuel inj and fancier engine braking.

Isnt Nakano the highest point scorer for Yamaha this year, if so maybe says it all about the rest of them.

The Yamaha M1 DID score a podium this year- Barros finished third at Le Mans. But overall, a poor showing indeed, high time they dumped Checa and got somebody decent to replace him.

And Barros was lucky to get that!
Le Mans was a two part race were a lot of people made tyre mistakes.
