Unraced GT40

I was reading Motorsport today and I came across the following article:

Quote:
An unfinished Ford GT40 has surfaced in Kent, and will be auctioned in March.

Chassis P1112 was part of the inventory when Ford wound up th programme and sold the components, including six monocoques, .......

Aprivate idividual bought the bare chassis over 30 years ago..... Auctioneers Christies say it only needs interior, wiring and exhausts to give this genuine, unblemished GT40 it's first-ever run
As a minor fan of the car I was intrigued if any 10/10th-ers had heard or knew anything more on this story.

The full story is on the Christies website at :

Basically it seems ambitiously priced given what 'real' ones have been fetching recently - by 'real' I mean others with chassis nos prior to 1086 with history - this is totally out of sequence at 1112 which may in turn have implications for FIA papers

Not really a 'real' one is it,the chassis may have been geniune, but everything else is replica.

Its not complete either . . . .but then how many 30+ year old cars are complete and original . . .probably less than 20% especially if theyve been 'driven'

still a gorgeous car . . . .but at the same price as my house I think Ill stick to the cheaper fords
