I actually agree with what you are saying here.

I do believe that the ALMS should look at races in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico. Given the interest in racing in these regions, I think they could end up picking up a few full time entries in doing so. The problem comes down to costs, and having local sponsors pay for travel for the teams. In this regards the ALMS is very conscious of their teams needs and requirements, as such this doesn't make much sense to them, unless there are the sponsors to foot the bill.

As to the LMS, they are a substitute for the preferred FIA GT, preferred by the event promoter. I have the email somewhere, but when I asked why not ALMS, he stated that they were more interested in the GT's, and not so much Prototypes. Funny how when the FIA GT's entrants balked at the idea, the promoter, and the entrants got forced together in an arranged marriage that seemingly isn't too well endorsed by either party.

I'm honestly surprised the ALMS hasn't gone to Mexico yet. Other North American series have had decent races down there (as did the dear departed Group C) and Mexican sponsors (Tecate etc) haven't been all that shy about coming forward.

In terms of South America, technically Brazil should have the sort of economy to be able to support a sportscar race - and in many ways it's doing exactly that - sure the grid's not full, and a few more prototypes certainly wouldn't go amiss, but it's not looking like the disgrace it might have been.

If they can ensure the event is properly run (having enough fuel would probably be a step in the right direction) I can see no real reason why it can't make a decent claim to be in the series next year too.

Got to disagree, LMP1, LMP2 and GT1 are a disgrace. The organisers have failed to deliver and the grids in these classes are a complete joke:

Peugeot vs Peugeot
Pescarolo vs Creation
Embassy vs Barazi (no offence to PB, but.......)
Larbre vs LAA

Anyone for tennis?

I fear a repeat of this debacle is probably on the cards for 2008 (no idea where yet).

All of them have class winning and/or pole setting material. The quantity is not the best, but there is question the quality of these entries is high.

As far as I know it's 15:00 in Europe and 14:00 UK time. Motorstv timing seems to confirm that.

I don't think RML & ASM are going. Has it stands only 4 teams are going in LMP2 so only half points will be awarded. So RML could win LMP2 & not turn up.

As a former employee of RML I wish them all best. We have missed the top slot in the past 2 seasons by 1 point ('05) & 2 points ('06). Although, we did win Lemans 2 years running. Good luck to them.

I'd wager there will be a reasonable crowd; how many big events go to Brazil (car racing) every year?

The official web-site for the LeMans Series still only posts two GT1 entries and does not list the Konrad Saleen. Is this still up in the air or are they coming for sure?

Confusing, I have found one web site that has 2 Konrad Saleens & no Saleens on the official LMS site.

Vince, no official Konrad Saleen has been 100% confirmed although we know through the LMS organization that we could see at least one over there. Will be a last minute confirm clearly.
