How is the MP4-19 coming along?

and can i buy a model of the MP4-18? i'd like to buy one.

after Mp4-18 fiasco, this will be the major issue of next winter!!!

It's going to be interesting. Of the top three teams only McLaren need to design a 'new' car, I would guess that The 2005 Ferrari's and Williams will be evolutions of this years cars.

RD is quoted as saying that McLaren made a 'mistake' in not calling the MP4-17D the 'MP4-18', as it was a completely different car to the one that finished last season.

I don't think they have even built the '19 - they have continued to test the '18, which will never be raced but has a lot in common with the '19.

I think Ron has a point. If they's just called that the MP4-18 and developed the new car as something else I don't think half the critisism that they received would have come their way! Even though they did the same development!!!!

I remember an interview with RD in Autosport that said his design boffins pointing out that from their point of view it wasn't a new car, but a development so it stayed as 17.

It is all in a name...

Also interesting idea about the model. Some model manufacturer did do a scale model of the MP4-something that was launched in McLaren Orange in the '90s.

Maybe they will keep running an E and F spec MP4-17??

The hilarious bit is that they have made 8 or 9 tubs for this model designation already, while Minardi have to make do with 3 for each model

So it will be like a MP4-18B?

I heard that whatever round Mclaren announced that they wouldn't be racing the MP4-18 they said that they hoped that they could have a MP4-19 ready for the end of the year...although James Allen may have said it

no there wasn't, the D stands for development.

I think that Mcalren will be sa force to be reckonew with. They could easily have the new car on track before the testing ban this winter which would give them a baseline to work with over the winter

Well after regreting spending too much time on the it earlier this year i hear they have the janitor(mrs tilby) and a high school graduate still working on it
