With Rebellion apparently considering running some IMSA races (maybe the Endurance Cup) it could be useful to have one of their regular drivers running in an ORECA in LMP2.

Like many other teams, the Swiss Orecas have been out at HTTT testing the Dunlops. With the unchanged aeros and liveries (only addition seemingly being the new tire stickers), not even bare sponsoless ones, it looks as if after Bahrain the team just stored the cars in the warehouse and brought them here as-they-were. Anyway, good to get some round running done in the first place... I'm hoping for those 24 hour stimulation runs sometime in spring to get the reliability truly checked, but not holding on such thing happening

Nelson Piquet Jr has said he'll drive for an LMP1 team at some point this year.
Seeing as the only free seats are at Rebellion and Kolles, how likely is it that the Brazilian will replace Beche at Le Mans? I think he'd be a very good signing. |

Quick-Nick and Prost negative about lack of competition again. Also Asked if Rebellion should switch to LMP2 class, which boasts 22 entries at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, the Frenchman said it is not in his team’s DNA to hire gentleman drivers - a necessary condition in this category.“LMP2 has a big problem with driver classification," he said. "You really need to get the gentlemen drivers, and that’s not really in the spirit of Rebellion.” Not that I disagree with the sentiment, and I most certainly do not want the team to go anywhere from LMP1, however it's not like their (#13) car hasn't seen some more of a "cashing in" guys behind the wheel at times, right... |

And potentially couole of others, as said on the LMP1-incentive thread, however 2017 now probably remains just as lame duck as 2016, which is very worrying if the motivation of Rebellion sinks any lower than now

Kolles winning 3 or more races again this season should be plenty of motivation imo.

Loosing couple of times might make the "class" look more competitive, so it can be perversely positive. As long as you don't finish behind all LMP2 cars and stand on the "podium" embarrassed, like couple of times last year.
And it's not as if Rebellion has been particularly turning up to events with full concentration as of late, with pretty much zero development on chassis since ??? and bare minimal preparations. They know there's no need to spend money right now. Just as Oreca has again confirmed there being no updates on the car for 2016. The issue with the likes of Courage is that nothing is strictly set to stone, just as with dozen other teams that have talked of LMP1 in the last couple of years, only to vaporize. No known timeframes or dates for the hypothetical chassis rolldowns. Only takes one article to pop up on DSC or wherever year from now where cancellation is cited for being down to resources and partners. So Rebellion cannot count on Courage or anyone else, to 100% show up in 2018. 2017 was supposed to be 18 already... Last edited by Deleted; 21 Feb 2016 at 00:00. |

Let the speculations begin though if I had to guess it'd be just sponsorship.

I'm going to scream and shout if Rebellion fools themselves by getting involved in F1.
The money is better spend at improving their LMP1 project to have fighting chance like the old Pescarolos. |

Why? They're never going to outspend the factories and they're not going to get on terms with them without some major rule breaks, so why not see what the same money can get them elsewhere? I really hope they don't, and maybe this is some future tie up with the Manor P2 squad, but I couldn't blame them for looking.

Maybe it's a small sponsorship. Hopefully it's not a step back from lmp1, which is doubtful.

Not an improvement for TDS' livery imo.
Let's hope 1 +1 makes 5 and TDS/Rebellion will be doing some races in the US next year (again)! |

Piquet Jr @ Rebellion for Silverstone+Spa+Le Mans, but no word on which of the team's cars he'll be in. |

and the 3 of them battle each other on the already boring FE
On WEC, it's probably gonna be boring for them, unless ByKolles and Rebellion are close on pace, which I'm not sure of. |

It only requires four factory cars to blow up, melt down, crash or be seriously delayed at Le Mans for them to be on the podium, so there's that too.

2014 especially was impressive given the mileage of their new Oreca
Podium would be the first for privateers since Pesca in 07. |
