Checking the speed trap PDF's on the LMS' site, it seems that the Pugs made big gains in terms of straightline speed in P2. In both sessions, the Audis ran 283km/h, while in the first session, the fastest Peugeot was 287 km/h, and in P2 the fastest 908 ran a 291km/h.
Are the Pugs shedding downforce to boost what is likely the only advantage that they still have over Audi, which is speed down the straights? Seems to support what you said about the Oreca car's areo and maybe why the factory car was so fast, and maybe why Davidson spun was the reduced downforce. Certinaly couldn't have helped... |
