Corvette has 2 options, supporting customers like AMR is doing now (Modena in LMS and JetAlliance for FIA GT) or come to Europe and challenge the finest GT1 teams in both European series !

Porsche gave a stunning display and moved the mark in P2, with both cars not only finishing but going One/Two in class.

Marc Lieb is at university. Pilet and Bernhard were absent, and of course Dumas and Collard were on loan to Henri. Simply, Porsche were limited by the number of entries. Since all 3 of the accepted entries happen to be owned by gentlemen who want to drive, you can't exactly kick them out of the car.

I'm sure somone like Manthey wouldn't mind fielding a "works" car if asked nicely...of course, that would require Porsche actually being interested in doing that. From their point of view, they sell loads of RSRs without having to pay for racing it themselves. So why should they?

It's not always about who enters, it's about who gets accepted. Especially with the automatic entries taking up so much of the class, Ferrari's performance last year gained them the lion's share of entries (5 vs. 3). Those actually take care of all but the 2 two-gentleman Ferraris and the Spykers.

Bit late don't you think, I don't think we'll see either team return in GT1.

I could not believe, how much the rain affected the speed of Peugeots, their advantage melted like the The Wicked Witch of the West in the rain.

Dome made it to the end after several difficulties, what is it then next year, with Toyota hybrid (?).

I was extremely happy to see Dome keep plugging along and make it to the checkered flag. Finding out the chassis problems over 24 hours is important in developing the chassis. Hopefully Toyota will be in mix next year...

For an un-raced car the Dome had a very very solid first 12 hours. A great technology demonstrator to emphasize what they could do with a full factory program budget. Did not quite have the ultimate pace of the Charouz Aston though.

The drivers showed their Le Mans inexperience a bit, but the team itself trudged through its problems with guts and they deserved the finish they got. I hope a company like Toyota smiles upon them.

well done aston martin is all i will say, its good to see a gulf car winning again at lemans .

a terrific race though, one of the best in a while, close at the end between audi and peugeot, looked like you could cut the atmosphere with a knife in the last 2 hours in the audi and pug pits.

and well done to audi, merkstein and of course risi, at last porsche's dominance has been toppled by the ferrari .

all i can say is:

BRING ON 2009!!

When you consider they were a second or two quicker than established Judd powered cars, Pescarolo and Oreca, that was a great show.

Looks great as well, can't wait to get a 1/43rd model of it.

it was good to see the dome finishing after a few years in the shadows. perhaps they'll be a threat in a few years after some development

Not surprised by the performance of the Dome. If you look at the last decade from all cars available for privateers it was, after the Pescarolo, the car to have for the Le Mans 24 hours.

The full timing data is available at http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans...se/24Hours.pdf

The speed of the Peugeot in the Porsche curves is amazing:
#8 Peugeot: 261,56 km/h
#7 Peugeot: 258,83 km/h
#9 Peugeot: 257,53 km/h
#2 Audi: 244,93 km/h
#1 Audi: 244,41 km/h
#3 Audi: 243,84 km/h

15 km/h difference Clearly Peugeot had much more downforce!

Wasn't it the factory drivers that wrecked the Lizards and IMSA cars? Felbermeyer/Proton car ran with the Ferraris until mechanical troubles, can't blame the gentleman drivers for that.

Even more, they showcased the sturdiness of the car with a great variety of recoverable crashes.

Unfortunately, it seems ACO doesn't provide the trap speeds for the Le Mans 24 Hours anymore... Which is quite a shame. Does anybody know of the race trap speeds? I only read that the Dome Judd was the fastest, at 358 km/h

Wonderful racing and also the right winner in LMP1 ;-) The King of Le Mans strikes again.

..But what happened to the Radical ?? They seem to have really fast drivers with experience in LM and also a proven and potential fast car, but they still couldn´t do anything in LMP2..So dissapointing in my book.

Regarding next years race:
Porsche has just ordered 15,000 3.0 V6TDi engines from Audi to put into the Cayenne. This is step one...
Step 2: Porsche will order 10 V12 TDi engine from Audi to put into the RS-Spyder....the Cayenne Diesel needs some marketing...

And some other sites too. If you search google for Dome 2008 "358 km/h" you'll find many of them. However, all of them are in French.
