Helms should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2010 drivers?

I thought for a bit of fun I might try and guess some driver line ups. Probably turn out terribly wrong but oh well..

Ferrari (already confirmed)
Masssa and Alonso (These two will be dangerous!)

Mclaren
Lewis and Rosberg (maybe quick nick) (i hope kimi sods off to rally!)

Renault (assuming they dont fold!)
robert Kubisa (sp?) and Heikki - maybe even Kobiyashi (hes naturally bloody quick!)

Brawn
Button and either Rosberg or quick Nick. (maybe even Senna??)

Red bull (confirmed)
Vettle and Webber

Williams (confirmed)
Hulkenburg (i think he will be FAST!) and Rubens

The others im not too sure on, and tend not too care all that much. I just hope Rosberg has the intelegence to go to Mclaren instead of brawn as i dont think that brawn will be so brilliant next year as they dont have Rubens to do all the set up work!!

My POV is that no driver is "confirmed" until they roll out of the pits in a car in first practice at the first race.

Even though I'm not the biggest Alonso fan, I'm glad to see him back in a (probably) competative car.

GP2 driver Jérôme D'Ambrosio wants to secure a F1 reserve driver role. In an interview with La Dernière Heure today, the Belgian says he and his management are working on it.

Quote:
"I've changed my physical training scheme, just to be ready for it. But it won't be easy. F1 is somewhat disordered following the withdrawal of BMW and Toyota, and the arrival of new small teams. A reserve driver role would be a very interesting opportunity."

Button to McLaren, or either driver leaving RBR, IMO seem very unlikely. Vettel would command a huge transfer fee, and would they replace him with Kobayashi? He probably isn't ready for them, I'd like to see him alongside Kubica at Renault perhaps.

Nearly right but my humble view would be :-
Brawn:- Rosberg, Hiedfield
Red Bull:- Vettel, Webber
Renault:- - Kubica, Glock
Sauber:- Kobayashi, Kovalainen
Lotus:- Trulli, Grosjean

I think when it comes down to it McLaren will take the best guy they have an option on and that will be Kimi...i think McLaren are just postering a little at the moment, much like a chicken race.

But it does seem that one WDC is going to do a JV and be left with a pretty ordinary dance partner

That's a very simplistic view. Button wants less than Raikkonen and brings the number 1 and all the PR associated with that. And he's a team player too

So whatever happens, either Kimi or Button aren't going to have a top line drive available. Jense might settle for a tractor somewhere in the mid-field if he has to but for Kimi it'll be first class to Helsinki if he can't get a race winner...Very interesting indeed. The thing is I just can't see McLaren taking Button, whether they take Kimi or not. I could be very wrong on that but my gut just says no for some reason. This silly season is giving me headaches; every question that's answered seems to throw up another, much more confusing one.

Wonder what salary differences are there between Kimi and Jenson, but, if I were McLaren, I´d sign Kimi anytime... Button´s obviously very good, but not at Kimi level, not even close to it...
for F1 losing Raikkonen would be a real shame...

Why would McLaren want Kimi over Button? Ferrari have just paid him to go away.

Kimi drove the hell out of the 2003 and 2005 McLaren, they know him well, and he´s as WDC as Button, with the difference that Kimi never had such a car superiority in 2007 as Jenson has had at the beginning of 2009.
All this said with all respects to Jenson´s season, as he´s a worthy WDC.
Ferrari have paid Kimi out... to let Alonso in.

I cant see McLaren letting drivers pay being the driver of chosing which driver! Firstly its very un-McLaren to let budget be seen as a limit to the teams decision making. Seconly, McLaren know that the 3-4million dollar difference in pay would be chicken fodder compared to what all the perks are when they have a successful season, WDC/WCC etc

I am with Java, i just cant see Button being a McLaren driver. Re Ferrari just paying Kmi to go away, i dont think Alonso is any better a driver then Kimi, but he is better for a team and he certainly knows how to develop a car to his liking which will more likely result in a championship rather then Kimis approach of driving the wheels off whatever he is given.

I think i can see both Mercedes and McLaren wanting Kimi before Button.

(Sheesh, so many of my posts seem to be a little negative towards Button, not my intention as i respect the guy...just he seems to find himself very exposed)
