Mark Webber has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
past
Moffat
G Fury

Present
Jim Richards best driver in OZ
Marcos Ambrose
Mark Skaife

On another topic
I feel Glen Seton is the best driver never to win Bathurst
(yet I hope of him)

1.Pete Geoghegan
2.Allan Moffatt
3.John Bowe
4.Jim Richards
5.Glen Seton
Of the newer drivers Marcos Ambrose is the absolute stand out.Mark Skaife failed to make my list, as has been proven without the best equipment he fails to make his prescence felt

Past: Peter Brock, Dick Johnson, Allan Moffat, Colin Bond, Allan Grice, Pete Geoghegan, Bob Morris, Bruce McPhee, Frank Gardner, Norm Beechey and there are probably a few that I've forgotten.

Present: Mark Skaife, Craig Lowndes, father and son Richards, Marcus Ambrose, Glenn Seton, John Bowe and again, there are probably a few that I've forgotten.

In no particualar order my top 10 would include Brock, Skaife, Moffat, Johnson, Grice, Jim Richards, Pete Geoghegan, Lowdnes, Ambrose & Glenn Seton. John Bowe should rate a mention, as should Colin Bond and George Fury, for there sucess in both circuit racing and rallying.

Well, Top 13

there is only two i rate above all the others and they are frank gardner and jimmy richards. (If you want to count bathurst 1000's you could put black jack in there aswell)

it is more for what they have done in other series aswell.

Check your history, as he also raced Cortinas and Escorts and beat V8 Falcon Sprints

I was not belittling Franks achievements in motorsport :
2 times british champion racing driver
3 times british saloon car champion
european formula 5000 champion
" " " " " 2 champion
" " " touring car champion
" " " saloon car champion
1977 Australian Sports Sedan Champ.
The point i was making is Frank has done absolutely stuff all over here driving touring cars which was my original question

Generally I'd agree but would add Kevin Bartlet and drop Gricey.

Frank may not have done much driving over here, but it must be remembered that by the time he came back to Australia, he was nearing retirement, so he would have done the bulk of his racing overseas. But he still was a great, Australian touring car driver, even if he doesn't fit into the context of this thread.

Had he won the 1983 Hardie with Jim Richards in the BMW - and had aluminium filings not made their way into the fuel tank, they may well have done - he may have received greater recognition over here.

Also, on his return to Australia in 1975, he set pole at his race, at Calder i think.

Moffman, I sense an obvious bias in your ranking of P.G.
Why is he at the top of the tree?

Leo and Pete are both top blokes I worked for Leo for a while
the one that got me Leo won the 69 Japanese F1 race in the previous years lotus that he ran as a privateer
and Pete I heard a story that Brocky was just a punter at Oran Park when Pete brought the Mustang complettly crossed up under the bridge in a power slide
which Brock said he could not believe
now thats high praise
