Heartstart Basic Emergency Life Support Courses

Hi Everyone,
Have you seen an accident and stood back and let someone else try to save that
person’s life? Did you think: “I wish I knew what to do”?
Intervention Marshals UK (IVMUK) run the British Heart Foundation’s Heartstart
initiative to train anybody in emergency life support skills so you will be able to
help in an emergency until the ambulance arrives.
The course will deliver the following modules in basic emergency life support skills:
-Primary Survey
-CPR for adults
-Recovery Position
-Choking
-Bleeding
-Recognising Heart Attacks.
-Basic Fracture management
-Burns
This is run by motorsport marshals and rescue crew for any one in motorsports.
We have run several courses for motorsport and mainly had marshals but it would be nice to have drivers, mechanics, press etc on it as well.
The course is free, all we ask for is a donation to the scheme as this is how its funded and everyone who attends will receive a certifacate and a sew on patch for overalls etc.
The next course is Saturday 1st December( 09:30-12:30) in Grays Essex( 5 mins from M25 A13 exit)
If you are interested then please go onto our website www.heartstart-grays.co.uk and use our on line booking facility or if you have a venue or group etc we can come out to you so again please contact the scheme and we will sort this out with you.
Regards,
Heartstart-Grays

As an ordinary bloke in the street you/me generally can't save anyone whose heart has stopped, you just keep life support going until someone with the right equipment, drugs and knowledge arrives to take over from you.
Richard, where in Grays is it being run?

Hi Tim,
You are in theory correct. Its all about doing something is better than nothing with the chance something might bring a good result as part of the chain of survival and giving people the basic skills and confidence. We have had one student already who has done CPR on someone at her local supermarket untill 999 arrived and the person as far as she knows survived. BHF have been informed.
We run in the Bradleigh Avenue in Grays. There is ample parking.
If you book onto a course we look forward to welcoming you to it.
Rgds,
Richard

I think in an age where we all carry mobile phones so can immediatly call for professional help instead of looking around for a working public phone, to be able to do something until that help arrives must now be even more relevant.

Well we completed the course today and a big thanks to Richard and the team. I can wholeheartedly endorse this course, it was very informative and also fun to do and who knows it may well help save someones life one day, so a win win whatever way you look at it.

If you ever do a Saturday course again can you post it up here. I went to a track day at Brands yesterday but would have better spent my morning at Grays, sorry I missed it.
