FIM Winners Game ---> Catalunya

Round 7 of the Summer Cup, THIRD LAST round.

We are approaching the end of the Cup. It will finish after this bunch of three weekends: Catalunya, Holland and Britain. So in three weeks we will get the winners of this Grand World Game.

Classifications are very close, blah, blah, blah... (you can fill the usual stuff here)

The main point of interest for our purposes seems to be if Rossi wins or not. MotoGP has become a difficult category to guess.

Rules are:

----------------------------------------------

Object of the game:
You have to guess the winner. You can put one, two, three or four riders as winners.

Scoring:
If you put one rider and he wins, you get 4 points.
If you put two two riders and one of them wins, you get 3 points.
In case you put 3 names and one wins, you get 2.5 points.
If you choose to put four names, and one of them wins, you get 2 points.
If you fail to guess the winner, you get 0 points.

Time limit:
Guesses can be done until one hour before the first race (125, 250 or MotoGP, whatever it is). Usually it will be one hour before 125 race.

Remarks:
Every FIM GP three guesses can be entered: for 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP. Those are three differents games, so you can enter only one or two categories if you like.

Appart from the three classifications (125, 250 and MotoGP), I'll put a "global" classification adding all of them.

The key of the game is to predict the winner putting the least possible numbers of candidates. But if you put too few riders, you risk getting 0 points!

There will be two separate championships: Summer Cup until mid season and Autumn Cup in the second part of the season.

In case of tie, it is ahead who has better score in the last round, then in the second last round, etc. If still there is a tie in "Total" category, it is ahead who has more points in MotoGP, then in 250cc. Finally, if all of that fails, it is ahead who has guess earlier in the last round (and here we cannot tie anymore!).

Example:

Let's suppose in Jerez you put the following guesses and the real winners are Simoncelli, Angelis and Rossi:
125 = Simoncelli, P.Nieto, Lai (you get 2.5 points for Simoncelli)
250 = Porto, Dovizioso (you get 0 point, you failed)
MotoGP = Gibernau, Rossi (you get 3 points for Rossi)

He broke his arm after coming off his push bike in training. He will be out for 2 rounds at least. (I doubt he will be back until after the break)

You are right, I was just pulling your leg, the 12+1 man has two sons and a nephew, I think, racing bikes. BUT... in 125cc there is no doubt the only Nieto who can do things is Pablo Ironically "Nieto" means grandson in Spanish, so everything is family and family is everything for the Nietoes

My guess (laughs sound effect, please):

125cc: Bautista, Kallio
250cc: Lorenzo, Dovizioso
MotoGP: Rossi, Pedrosa =8-O

BOTTY:
125cc: Bautista
250cc: Dovizioso, Lorenzo
MotoGP: Rossi, Melandri, Capirossi, Hayden (-_-)

What a days racing! Great for the Dove to finally get the 250cc monkey off his back, Lorenzo is looking great too - I reckon he will be explosive in MotoGP. Can't wait.

In MotoGP the potential gravity of accidents hit hard with Melandri's nasty, nasty accident. That was what I noticed straight away when the commentators were harping on about the Duke boys and Pedrosa - Melandri flopped like a ragdoll after being obscured (and bashed about) by TWO bikes... I'm extremely relieved he is not seriously hurt. I've become quite a fan of this happy hard charger! Obviously he was knocked out for a while and reports are that he's suffered an acromioclavicular dislocation which is like dislocating your shoulder but ten times worse! But he's ok otherwise it seems, I thought that was another Katoh. The horrible side to this awesome racing series I guess.

Rossi = steamroller! He looks more comfortable than ever on that new bike. The others do not stand a chance. Hayden is fantastically consistent but sooner or later he's going to have to start winning to stop Rossi. That lead will only last so long. I hope he does start winning though - class act.

Stoner - some polishing needed but boy is he fast! He's young and as long as he's going fast and up front he can crash as much as he wants this season (well, not that much!) because even Rossi did his fair share of crashes in his first season in 500cc's.

What a season

i was so scared when I saw the crash and the fact that he wasn't moving

and in general . they fell like flies .. there was something like 9 finishers
and with that .. Rossi only recovered 5 points
Stoner binned it again .. we already saw what he can do .. but you can't go for Rossi's neck without being prepared .. we don't want anoher Biaggi

250 and 125 were again very close and very good racing

I happened across the crash whilst Le Mans took a break....very scary stuff, the energy involved was immense. So many potential disasters in one go, so glad everyone is relatively OK.

Just watching the race now......the grid for the final start looked so sparse, thought I was watching a 1992 WSC race at first....lol

I could not express better my own feeling about current state of affairs in FIM GP than Davids words.

Melandri seems to have some neck injury (www.motogp.com), I hope it is not important but I will be more relaxed about it when I read a confirmation.

One of those nasty crashes motorsport throws at us eventually. Apparently, Goddess Luck has blessed them once more.

Apparently all riders are OK, although Sete will require an operation to repair his collarbone. Loris may ride next weekend.

Sete's ambulance was also involved in a traffic accident on the way to the hospital but Sete was not further injred in this crash. When you're having a bad day .....

Can you believe it!!

Unfortunately, the ambulance taking Gibernau to hospital was involved in a minor accident with a bus just 50 metres from the hospital entrance, though Sete suffered no further injuries in that incident.

Reminds me of the bit in Hot Shots where they are spoofing Top Gun and Goose's death. Guy crashes plane, survives, put in ambulance, falls out of ambulance, doors slammed on his head, falls out of ambulance etc. Poor Sete.

Is this the Rossi curse still working its magic? Did Rossi not just say, "Sete'll never win another race"? Did he also say that 'If Sete is in an ambulance its journey to the hospital will not be without obstacles and dangers"?

Maybe.
