NASCAR "constructor" standings

This is a good way to compare the strength of the multi-car teams. I added the points scored by a team's top 2 cars and then ranked the teams. It obviously is biased in favor of teams with more than 2 cars but it is still a pretty good tool to compare the teams.

The major flaw in this is that it doesn't take into account bad luck. DEI is not as bad as its points tally suggests and Penske has not been as good over the course of the season as Roush and HMS but it is ranked ahead of HMS due to JG being wrecked a zillion times this year. I don't consider mechanical failures bad luck. Building reliable cars is one of the missions a team has and a team that is slower but more reliable deserves credit. RYR is not nearly as fast as a team that has two cars in the top 10 in points usually is but its cars have been extremely reliable this year.

MB2 and Petty aren't funded nearly as well as the other teams so teams 6-9 have all had pretty bad seasons thus far.

1) Roush-5,249
2) Penske-5,124
3) Hendrick-5,057
4) Yates-4,763
5) JGR-4,729
6) Childress-4,436
7) Evernham-4,431
8) DEI-4,384
9) Ganassi-4,210
10) MB2-3,981
11) Petty-3,490

2112 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Looks like Penske is the little engine that could.

Just the facts.

Penske has improved greatly since May in terms of pace. It arguably has the best overall package in NASCAR this side of Roush right now.

McKay has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
These don't really tell the whole story, as Roush have about 5 cars at each race, the 6,16,17,97,99 and some others too probably, whereas Penske only have the 2,12 and 77, although the 77 is only half their car i believe (?). DEI only have 2 cars, but they aren't doing very well anyway...
