what ever you want.

Most teams use 10"x8" because it looks nice. I think a 132 wheel is best to fit a decent steering arm upright and calipers in. and after speaking to Avon for the sort of track used a 6" tyre is the maximum you want because you cannot get the heat into anything bigger. Try telling that to some know it all 3rd year students though

We have run the 10" wheels since '99 and wouldn't go back... much less selection as far as wheels and tires go, and much tighter packaging, but big improvement in weight!!

More teams use 13" x 6" over here. Narrower tyres heat up faster, as Mackmot said. And the 13" wheels look better than the 10". The 10" just look silly small.

yes, if you buy your wheels, but i bet the carbon wheels at this years competition were a lot lighter, and as more and more teams come to make their own wheels, i think we shall see a fall in the number of people using 10s

there an idiot then, theres nothing worse on a FSAE team than someone who thinks they know it all. They dont, and after a period of time it shows

For rules, etc, try here: http://www.sae.org/students/formula.htm

I've wanted to get involved with my Uni's FSAE team for a while now, but it seems to be mainly a project for Mech and Aerospace engineering students. I'm a COmputer Systems Engineering student, and like it very much...one would think they'd want us for Telemetry, etc..but aparently not. That's ok, there are much better jobs in industry.

Jay, I'm sure if you are interested and willing to help, your school's FSAE team could use you in some capacity! We never turned anyone away unless they were a detriment... ie unreliable, unfriendly, etc... but if they really wanted to help, there was always something for them to do...
