Dan Rear should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I wonder what happened to the first Magnum, the 81A Atlantic car sent to Colin Tuckey in the US mid-81?

Did it actually have the monocoque destined for the Theodore F1 or was it scrapped after a smash? I forget, I know a few Magnum prototypes had shunts.

MaxRobinson should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
hi there, my name is max robinson, i am john robinsons grandson. just had a quick browse on the net and came across this, its great to see the magnum cars are still out there! and i think its unfortunate that magnum had to stop making the cars.
i am currently hoping to keep up the tradition of motorsport in the family by competeing in the barc formula renault at the end of this year and into 2011.

any questions dont hesitate to get in contact: max.robinson@aem-products.co.uk

Tuckey's Magnum.

@ Dan Rear, Tuckey brought the Magnum over from England to Calgary, Alberta in 1981 and entered a handful of races in the North American Formula Atlantic Series at the time, replacing a rapidly aging Chevron B45. His outings that year in the Magnum were less than memorable and lack of resources failed to develop the car much beyond what it came with, out of the box. He held on to the car for several years, running it in regional open wheel races in the western U.S. and Canada. I had seen the car at the F.A. races in Edmonton and Westwood (Vancouver) in 1981. He occasionally brought it out to run at Calgary International Raceway in the following few years, along with a Chevron B38 (?) he also ran in regional CASC sports racer events. The last time I saw the Magnum was at Formula Atlantic race at Westwood in 1986. I remember him practicing but think he didn't actually run in the race itself. Last I heard about Mr. Tuckey was he gave up pursuing a racing career and went on to join the Calgary Police force. Have no idea what ever happen to his racing assets...

The 81A was purchase from Tuckey's father around the Early 2000's (Was stored in the back of a bus) by Gord Leach and taken to Regina the car was re-painted black and gold (Regina Wheel Works colors). Due to a promise to a friend about a Lotus he sold the car to my father (Brian Smetaniuk) in probably 2004-5 and the car came back to Calgary. In 2005 after the motor was refreshed and the car was prepped to race again it was crashed in it's first track day. Rear upright failure put the car into the wall and the right side of the car was crushed. The tub has since been repaired and is currently being re-assembled hopefully to be run again in 2012.

Will post some pics when i get to my home computer.
