A switch Kimi-MS?

Italian www.italiaracing.net has been insisting since yesterday about such a possibility for next year, for two (claimed) reasons:
1) Both are unsatisfied by their cares current performances (slow Ferrari and unreliable Mac)
2) Both would be interested at such a switch: kimi would gain in worldwide popularity, MS would run a german engine for the 1st time in F1

It's a fact that both are exitating about renewing their respective contracts.

OK this source is certainly not the most reliable in the world, but what do you think about it?

Has such a hint appeared elsewhere?

I think it is not at all likely to happen.

Raikkonen said in the Hungarian GP Press conference yesterday he is happy at McLaren.

And I don't believe we'll see Schumacher drive anything other than a Ferrari before he retires.

1. Schumacher will not be going anywhere... im sure he'll end his career at Ferrari

2. Kimi's situation is a bit more complicated. Ferrari have openly claimed Kimi to be their choice as successor to MS. whether Kimi would risk a possible post-Schumi slump and leave Mclaren remains to be seen

More likely Nissany driving in Sunday's race and finishing on the podium than this happening.

No, I think it's funny he gets to drive!

I'm just trying to put it into perspective for delusional people who think there is even the slightest possbility that this will eventuate.

Never going to happen. Kimi leaving McLaren, well, perhaps; but Schuey will see out his career at Ferrari, no question in my mind.

Indeed. MS would end his F1 career at Ferrari, no doubt about it. Similarly, i can't see any reasons why Dennis would want a driver, even one as good as MS, who is already on the verge of leaving the sports.

On the otherhand, there is possibility of Kimi leaving Mclaren. He had hinted that despite being happy at Mclaren with the team, he said his loyalty shouldn't be taken for granted and that the car has to improve drastically in terms of reliability. Kimi wants to be win the WDC. Mclaren so far has yet to assure him they can help him. Would Kimi end up at Ferrari? May, may not..no body knows.

I think Kimi might join Ferrari, but that would be at the expense of whoever is in the 2nd seat next year.

It all depends on Button, really - he's the key to the silly season once again. Maybe we'll even see Kimi teamed up with DC again in 2007.

Agreed, more likely that Kimi will eventually replace Schuey and that is the main reason that Ron signed JPM in the first place, ie, to ensure that when his main man leaves, he's already got another ace in place.

I can't see kimi going to ferrari from mclaren after MS retires. It would be a risky move because I have doubts about ferraris future after MS retires, as alot of the ferrari crew apparently might leave with him. It would be a risky move by kimi.

Kimi is contracted to McLaren for next season, and I'd fully expect him to extend that stay.

Stranger things have happened.

I would say it's unlikely but then again we're talking the whacky world of F1 here.

TGF is signed up till end of 2006 but contracts can change, end etc at any time.

Forgive the double post but I found this article with an interesting but certainly not concrete "I'm staying at McLaren" statement from
KIMI

Kimi won't leave McLaren he is their star, and Michael *is* Ferrari for right now anyway. Just my opinion.

deeks6 User has been fined for unsportsmanlike behaviour!
Reason 1: MS is contracted to Ferrari until 2007, I believe and has stated on numerous occaisions that Ferrari is the last team for who he will drive

Reason 2: Why would you even contemplate stepping out of the fastest car on the grid?

Reason 3: Profile? What motor race fan has NOT heard of Raikkonnen? He gets more written about him than anyone else except MS.

Especially when he gets his kit off at :ahem: clubs in London during the off season.

Cant see this happening, its like saying MS will go to BMW/Sauber in 2007
