In my opinion, it's more about public road safety. These "pink gravels" are very common on the side of french national roads.

http://tentenths.com/forum/showpost....&postcount=487 Putting aside Mulsanne-Indy and Arnage-Curves bits, I would really love to hear how the 'shoulders' between Indy corner and Arnage - you know the low speed short straight with no curving - improve anything. And that bit is gonna be removed from public roads too soon, so it is purely for the race. Quote:

We will have to see how much of the "pink gravel" there will be but in any case it's more like dust than nails on road. Like going off line to Pirelli tyre garbage in F1 race. |

The pink gravel strip is not wide and not very thick. It would have to be quicly compressed. But I'm not sure it's a good idea to have spread the gravel just before the race ??

However the worst dust will be gone within a few laps. Usually when we use cat/kitty litter on a racetrack the dust will be gone when approx. 50 cars has driven over it. The gravel will still be there, but the dust will be gone. |

Yesterday, i drove a short time on the side with pink gravels, with my own car at normal speed (90 kph about). The road holding is very unstable ! If i was in a LMP, i would not try !!

As i do every year i will be watching the GP on the TV and the excitement of being there in a few weeks starts to sink in, not long now. I try to pay attention as the bikes come out from the dunlop bridge to see how my campsite is looking.

The Porsche centre is even bigger as I was expecting. Can't wait to visit it. It also might be the reason Audi is expending its centre at Dunlop. Hope it has the vieuwing balconie!!! again.

Karun Chandhok will be another unhappy as he's been satisfied with Sarthe in the past not being modernized asphaltdrome, like Spa and like have become.
The excitement of Curves is now gone, no more penalty for not respecting it. Go however you want! After I saw the moderately widened Dunlop Esses last year, this further extension comes as no surprise. Pink gravel on Indy doesn't seem very evenly placed. But at least it's there. Anyway it's the most smoothing pic of those. Here's the Mardenborough dissatisfaction https://twitter.com/Jannthaman/statu...25430024359936 Last edited by Deleted; 30 May 2015 at 14:06. |

I guess the second left hander at the Porsche curves is going to be an easy flat because there isn't anything else to fear after it. The grass Hasn't had nothing to do with the crashes there.

Nissan just did a periscope lap, and to be honest it is not as bad as i thought. There is still loads of grass on the Porsche curves, and the line trough there would not be too different. Overall i would say 2 second per lap improvement will come from the changes. Sub 3:15 lap looks very likely
