From my experience I couldn't get even a whiff of diesel from the R18s but you can definitely smell the gas powered entries.

LMP1 to be split into LMP1-L (privateer non-hybrid) and LMP1-H (factory and privateer hybrids).

So basically we have two privateer LMP classes?? (LMP1-L & LMP2)
I think Dagys got that wrong.

To me seems like just a way to separate the cars inside the regulations, and not a class that is actually going to show up in the classifications.

The 2014 sporting regulations will be adjusted in the LMP1 category to take into consideration the new technical regulations, which will be implemented next season. In addition, in order to define the two types of engines taking into consideration the new distinction between non-hybrid cars (reserved for private teams) and hybrids (open to private and works teams), the former will be called LMP1-L (Le Mans Prototype 1 – Light) and the latter LMP1 - H (Le Mans Prototype 1 – Hybrid).
Secondly, the very first page of the technical regulations (which has not changed since first draft from June 2012):

Quote:
"LE MANS" PROTOTYPE ("LM" P1)
This is a racing closed car with no production minimum required.

"LE MANS" PROTOTYPE 1 category includes:
* "LE MANS" PROTOTYPE 1 Light ("LM" P1-L): with no Energy Recovery System (ERS) reserved only for privateers.
* "LE MANS" PROTOTYPE 1 Hybrid ("LM" P1-H): with Energy Recovery System (ERS).

WEC needs a 12h race? Yes, I think it would be cool. "A sham" without? Not sure.

12h race for the sake of being called 12h race, no. Less is more anyway.

ps. OT: I can't stand that vertically split layout of the comment system Jalopnik uses.

Not really, but USCC has gotten them beat there. They have a 10-hour race too.

For sure. The "NAEC" does have some good legs under it.

I'd prefer to have a twelve-hour race as a WEC finale. It would add some spice to the second half of the season, and if there were 1.5x points on the table, we might even see some titles not being decided beforehand.

Yep. Having been a fan, then having been in involved in endurance racing, it's probably why I still love driving at night.

the FIA at it again! Calendar changed again! Le Mans stays the same date, but Spa-Francorchamps has been moved forward one week, and is now on the Sunday instead of Saturday. Fuji also changed. http://www.endurance-info.com/en/201...endar-updated/

Predictably massive ball ache with the Spa change.

Now have to see if time off work can be changed, and more critically see if accommodation is flexible, otherwise a very significant deposit gets lost.

Highly highly unimpressed.

Because so many WEC cars would take part, somehow avoiding TUSCC grid caps.

Sorry, it has nothing to do with an expectation that entries will come over to TUSC. The main problem IMO, is where drivers/entrants run both championships, and they should have the ability to do so. Take a look at Porsche for example, you've got a Porsche LMP1 team, you've got Manthey and you have Core. Typically Porsche would have shared drivers amongst a program such as Manthey and Core, but that either seems unlikely now, or you make a choice as to where drivers go.

It isn't like there is a huge number of events here to plan. These weekends shouldn't conflict like they do. Poor planning.

Overly incompetent WEC director, obsessed with F1 while no sportscar fan gives a damn about that...

Should have put COTA and Petit back-to-back and have Japanese - or Chinese - WEC round 2 weeks after that.
